The USC game will be tough because USC can score. ND has a good D, but any game where the score can be played in the 20's or higher, they won't blow anyone out.

ND did what they needed to in order to win (well that and help on a phantom PI).

But I've never seen a team choke as hard as Pitt. Bad snaps all over the place, missed field goal, poor end game clock management... it was an absolute train wreck. I didn't watch until the 4th quarter for the most part as I was watching OSU.

But watching the choke job from Pitt it's hard to imagine how Pitt ever had a lead.

Pretty good finishing by the defense after a horrible start.

@NDHeisler: ND outgained Pitt 223-21 in total yards in fourth period and the three OTs combined.

In a legitimate playoff system. Not in the BCS. Style points and who you beat are everything in this system.

What a crazy game! I went from some extreme highs, to some extreme lows, to even higher highs.

Tommy Rees is absolutely horrible. I cringe every time he comes into the game. His performance today solidifies my thoughts that the kid is rat shit horrible.

The PI call on fourth down was horrible, but it makes up for the numerous PI calls on the opposite side where we couldn't get a flag.

Overall, I had a blast at the game today. This offense is nowhere near a NC caliber offense...but the defense holds when it has to. I figure today was a typical let down game, and I hope Kelly uses this as a teaching moment.

I agree, and that's why either Oregon, 'Bama, or K-State will be in the NC. Herbie said last week on Mike & Mike that it's not only who you beat, but how you look beating them that weighs on the minds of the voters, who make up the human element portion of the polls.

Sunday mornings are always better when your team is undefeated.

Also, Cierre Wood needs more carries and the only time Everett Golson should leave the field is on a stretcher. Tommy Rees sucks. Brindza scares the shit out of me. Ridiculously inconsistent. Missing reasonable FG's and XP's for fuck sake.

ND, as a whole, played like shit for most of the game. It's human nature to have a letdown coming off a big, emotional victory but yesterday was a complete sleepwalk job for 3 quarters. Inexcusable. The redzone play calling for most of the game was a joke too. Let's go single back TE in motion 3 times in a fucking row. Horseshit. A read option out of the gun or a play action pass or a fade to Eifert would do just fine. Hopefully Kelly gets his head out of his ass with that shit.

And even though Golson made a poor throw in the redzone and makes mistakes at times....that's your guy and it's not even a question. Tommy Rees is lead foot dipshit who makes worse mistakes than Golson with triple the experience. I know it's worked out a few times this year with him in the 2-minute offense but I'm not comfortable giving that fucker the keys to the car anymore.

As good as Theo is....and even though Wood had a critical fumble yesterday...he needs more carries. In fact, he should get the majority of the carries. He goes long stretches without playing and I don't know why.

That trip to BC worries me just because it's BC and they've played spoiler before. Kelly should put in a tape of the '93 and '02 ND-BC games and hopefully that has an impact on the players. You're a very good team but you can lose to anyone any given Saturday.

BC will be at 8 on ABC too. They've played well in those games this year.

It was a noon or 8:00 pm kickoff the other day when I checked the schedule. They've announced it for certain that it's an 8:00 kickoff then?

Notre Dame showed that they are not a top 5 team yesterday. ND didn't win that game as much as Pitt lost it.

Notre Dame was given a gift "from above" on that god awful PI call. Pitt blew their chances but christ, 3OT's against Pitt? USC will score quite a bit on ND.

played horrible for 3 quarters, dominant in the 4th and OTs. Curious as to who you'd have in your top 5 that has played every game perfect this year?

Just like Oklahoma did.... Nd played like complete shit and still found a way to win. Nd has played up or down to their schedule all year. While it pisses me off to no end there still 9-0 that's all that matters

They were dominant half of the 4th. I dont know if I would call 6 points and a turnover in 3 overtimes "dominant".

Notre Dame has had 2 very questionable calls that went their way this year to keep them undefeated. That is a fact.
