Here is DC, it is just like every other major storm we have had the past 3 or so years. People are freaking out, preparing for the power outages, and talking worst case.

I expect a bunch of rain, but nothing too different than all the summer storms the Derecho, that rolled through here.
Kind of used to by now with all the storms that include:
Derecho
Irene
And the three big snowstorms of late 2010-2011

An earthquake in Canada has cause a tsunami warning to be issued here in Hawaii. Should hit in 26 minutes they say. But the waves won't be more then 10feet they say. Though they said just 3 feet can cause significant damage. But we are about 100 yards from the evacuation zone on base and were told not to evacuate. All of Waikiki was evacuated, can't even begin to imagine the cluster fuck that is with all the damn Asians down there. They're probably freaking out!

At least VA isn't full of Asians, like Waikiki.

Thankfully, sounds like the Tsunamis were mild, and no damage reported.

Please be safe. This thing is getting stronger and stronger by the hour. It's a now cast situation the models can be tossed out at this point.

That cold front is what is making the storm so powerful and linger. We're suppose to get 35-40 mph winds that are constant with winds up to 70-75. I can't imagine how bad Delaware is going to get hit. I'm so glad I don't work for es3 anymore. We supplied all giant grocery stores.

I drove from Columbus to Indy Friday night. Past over a hundred utility trucks headed east. Drove back Saturday and saw a bunch more plus several generator trailers. Some one is taking this thing very seriously.

Was west bound on I 70 yesterday between Dayton and Indy and saw same thing. Probably 50-60 Power cmpany trucks, tree trimming vehicles etc heading east on I-70

My flight tuesday @ 1130 back into DC has already been cancelled. They rescheduled it for 335. I am willing to bet that flight gets cancelled.

Yea nothing major. Was a new experience. Didn't know that just a 3 foot tsunami wave can take boats inland and also water can go inland 3 blocks. Crazy. North shore had some 5 foot waves, on top of the 20+ foot waves they have anyway, but still very little damage

I just got an email that my office is closed tomorrow. Woohoo!

MTA is shutting down all subway and bus lines at 7pm. People are freaking out, the lines at grocery stores are ridiculous.
