watched it last night. It was above average for movies nowadays. 3/5 stars. It would have been higher but i felt they got a little urealistic at the end if they were going to portray this as a true story. anyone else see it? thoughts?

Really liked it. 4/5 for me easy. Id have to watch again to really give a full on report, but I thought initially it was very good.

Really, no fat to the script. The dialouge and actions in the movie were all moving forward. No fluff at all, which is awesome. Decent comedic drop-ins, but again, not out of place and didnt take away from the plot moving the direction it needed to. Good on the edge of your seat parts as well.

Excellent review, and echoes my feelings as well...I'd see it again in a heartbeat.

Im confused. Your problem was they fabricated a bit to make it edge of the seat instead of (essentially) rolling credits??

Would have been terribly boring and a disappointing end had they gone "by the books" at that point in the film.

All movies take liberties on "true stories" for dramatic effect--it's Hollywood!!!

I enjoyed it. It was easily better than anything Marty has reviewed.

Thought it was really good, but still the weakest of Ben's latest movies.

What's your favorite Ben movie? For me, it's Good Will Hunting, followed by Armageddon.

Yeah, he has been pretty much a "sure thing" on anything he has directed. I am sure he has a couple of duds, but I can't remember any right now.

I'll be seeing it tomorrow... Hopefully it's as good as I think. As Wes said, Ben has been on a roll lately with the shit he's directed.

Affleck has only directed like 4 movies in his career lol. Yeah, they are awesome, but it isnt many. Certainly NOT Armageddon or Good Will Hunting. Dont confuse writing with directing (Good Will Hunting).

Off the top of my head he has directed:
Argo
Gone Baby Gone
The Town

There may be others, but I dont think so....

IMDb says he also directed "I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney" in 1993.

Point taken. When I responded to Wes' post, I was thinking 'acted in' vs. directed.

Wasnt a shot at you, or anyone really. But I was talking to my friend before the movie who said the same types of things about Armageddon, Good Will Hunting and Paycheck. I had to correct him that while Ben is involved in Directing and Producing, he is still a rookie at it. But damn, does he know how to pick scripts and then NOT fuck them up. Good Will Hunting he was obviously involved in though, since he wrote the script.

I am too lazy to look it up, but how close was this movie to the real shenanigans? Or is it another loosely based true stories?
