Will be interesting to see what happens tonight. Will Romney repeat his performance at the 1st debate. Will Obama find that happy medium between his debate and Biden's performance? Not a big fan of town hall formate, and Crowley has pretty much already said she doesn't play to follow the rules, so we'll see what happens.

I think everyone will be pretty disappointed. From my perspective you have a hand-picked audience, asking pre-screened questions where the two then take turns basically giving a stump speech.

I've always kind of felt this is really a fraud of a debate. I like the idea and format in theory, I just think the execution will fall well short of what it can be (perhaps understandably).

As for Crowley, I hope she's not as partisan as the last moderator. Of course, it's a fair point that the Repubs have to agree to the choice of moderator so you can't cry about it.

I'm going to wager that Barry spends the majority of his time talking about Romney instead of talking about what his plans are to fix the messes he's compounded. I wonder why he's decided that even he can't run on his own record? :o

I am a little dumfounded that Obama isn't even pretending to propose/advocate something new. Sure, he can't run on his record but he can still talk about new policies/initiatives without highlighting the failure of what he's done.

As I've said, he's outclassed by Romney on these issues and so he speaks in generalities and platitudes to try to avoid really getting taken to school. Then, of course, on the stump and media interviews (carefully chosen media events) no one pushes or questions him on it. By not saying anything, then there's nothing to attack, really. That's the point.

Both campaigns pissed that moderator Candy Crowley has indicated that she will not play the minimalist role both parties signed off on

E
ssentially they're pissed that she won't run it like Jim Lehrer. How bad is it when both parties are pissed that they can't just attack one another unquestioned? If that doesn't sum up this political system today, what does?

I don't know. My guess is both parties are concerned about her grandstanding and trying to launch a career out of it. They are worried about fairness. Based on the last moderator, that's a legit concern. That both are objecting would seem to indicate no one has a handle on what her agenda could be.

After how the first debate went with regards to talking about whatever the hell they wanted over the moderator, and how Biden was in the VP debate, I read it as they're pissed that the mod isn't a pushover and they may have to actually answer a question, stay on topic, or ahdere to rules

Legit Question here...

If the President has a strong performance tonight(not a media driven one)...does he regain a good deal of support he lost after the 1st debate?

I wonder if Obama knows that talking really fast and a bit louder doesn't make one sound more intelligent.

Answer the damn question Mr. President.

Is it the role of the DOE to help control Gas prices?

Yes, Mr. Romney, answer the damn question.

Yes, we all understand energy policy, but get to the heart of the matter.
How much influence does the Government have over gas prices?

(Note, it is not much....)
