He bodied him pretty good while he was shooting. I thought it was a foul. But I laughed when he missed the first FT.

What a great game. Both IU and MSU are shoe-ins for 1 seeds IMO. I wouldn't be shocked to see them both in the final 4.

Havent been this happy about a win in a long time. IU is playing some great ball lately. IMO, they were the bestter team today, by even more than the 4 pt differential. But the MSU spurts produced more pts for them than the longer IU spurts.

I have no clue what the fuck Teddy was looking at. Zeller was fouled, then he came to a complete jumpstop and then he went up and finished....AND ONE!!! lol. That was terrible.

I have no clue how that was a foul on Sheehey. That was a complete bail-out and Will was straight up and in position.

Final thought is that Zeller needs to shoot the ball more often. About 2 weeks ago he started taking the outside shots and hitting them. But he still passes up open looks. He is a great driver for a 7-footer, but if they sag off, just hit the J.

Ok I lied, now the final thought. Victor Oladipo is just awesome. Point blank. POY in the B1G right now, with plenty of time still to go. But damn, I take him top 5 in the draft. He has just been better and better each game, which is hard to imagine.

And yes, Gary Harris is a tremendous player. No question in my eyes that MSU is pre-season #1 next year. Unless Dawson or Harris go pro.

He is usually just staring down his man. I dont think I have seen him do anything malicious, really. Just really focused player. I think it takes that kind of mentality to go from what he was, to what he is. And it isnt recent. He has had that look since he was a freshman.

I was doing the same thing while watching it though. Its tough to blame a coach for going nuts like that when the clock doesnt start...and that was BAD. 8 damn seconds. Especially since they usually dont take off as much time as they should...I was pleased they actually did take off the full 8 tonight.

At the very least, he wont be a bust. I know that isnt what you draft on, but when a guy is that good BECAUSE how hard he has worked, I feel it is even more predictable that he will be a hard enough worker to be great in the NBA. Couple that with the fact he actually has a shit ton of talent and athleticism is unmatched by many in the NBA already, and you have a no brainer right now.

That was legitimate. Take that, Brendan Plavich. (I promise that's the last time I will mention Plavich's shot at Assembly. Ha.) Hulls certainly has range. That was the deepest shot I have seen in the natural flow of a game this season. The only other player in the country that I've seen display range of that caliber in-game is probably Myles Mack of Rutgers. He'll launch it from anywhere.

I see what you mean, as he looked much more comfortable from inside the arc in the second half. Also, you mentioned on another thread what a roller coaster player Sheehy is, and it showed last night. When he's on, though, IU's the most complete team in the country.

Transplant Hulls back to 1985/86/87 and replace Alford and you see a guy who goes down into history as one of the best hoosiers ever. The kid flat out can shoot AND has athletic ability.

Tremendous game last night no matter the outcome. I didnt like all the reviews though. Can someone clear something up.......was there a TO called or did the ref stop it to check on the play that Zellar got bagged on? It was my impression he stopped the play to look at it. Now.....either call it a foul then look if it was flagrant...or dont do anything at all.
Same goes on the Watford play. Now I know there was a foul called on MSU, but if in real time the ref doesnt call a foul on a player then I dont think they should be able to check on the monitor to rule if it is flagrant or not. If there is any question if its flagrant then it BETTER be called as a regular foul in the first place.

In hindsight, Oladipo probably coulda kept dribbling on that fast break and sealed the game......but I am never opposed to a player scoring.

It wasnt until last night that I became a believer that IU MIGHT have a chance to win it all. Just hope they arent peaking a liiiiiiiiitle too early though. It is the end of conf season so hopefully they can keep it moving forward.

and I think a part of it is that HeShee gets too high when things are goin well, and too low when they arent. He is very emotional and that at times can help...and at times can hurt. Ya tend ot want players to stay more even keeled.

Iowa: 17-10, 6-8.

So far: Against them -- weak-ass non-conference schedule, no truly great wins (0-5 against Top 25 teams, although they do have a win over Wisconsin before they were ranked and one against Minnesota after they fell out...and one over Iowa State, who's one of the better Big 12 teams), no good road wins. For them -- Competitive team in the best conference, very good at home (only narrow losses to Indiana and Michigan State in-conference and a bigger one to Wichita State beforehand).

The future: Against them -- their only real chance for a true signature win coming up is AT Indiana. Not a likely upset. For them -- They're good at home and three of their final four are home games against Purdue, Illinois and Nebraska. None are true marquee wins, but Illinois will be respectable and the other two are at least better than Penn State.

Realistic best outcome: 20-11, 9-9 (win the three home games and lose to Indiana). Would it be enough to manage a .500 mark in-conference (and maybe a first-round B1G win, since they'd likely be playing a "better not lose this one, bubble team" game against Nebraska or Northwestern then) when you're in the nation's best conference, period? Or is their lack of any truly good wins combined with a couple bad losses (by 16 at Virginia Tech and at Nebraska) the sort of thing where they'd need a deep run in the B1G tournament?


Minnesota: 18-9, 6-8

So far: Against them -- Entering Jan. 12, they were 3-0 in conference with just one loss to Duke keeping them from being perfect overall. Since then, they're 3-8 with a home win over ranked Wisconsin being the only thing to really brag about during that stretch. Back-to-back road blowout losses to unranked Iowa and an OSU team that had lost 3-of-4 doesn't help either. For them: They're amazingly still 4-5 against Top 25 teams (when they played them), which gives them good numbers against good opponents over the course of the year. They didn't have a truly soft non-conference schedule with the loss to Duke and wins over Memphis (still only 3 losses for them, I think), Florida State and major-conference teams (if only the PAC) Stanford and USC.

The future: Against them -- a home game with #1 Indiana is their best hope for a marquee win. It's at home and Indiana did help Illinois help themselves by losing at the swooning Illini, so lightning could strike twice, but when a team is coming off two HUGE losses, counting on putting it together tonight is a tall order. For them -- Following are home vs Penn State and at Nebraska and Purdue. All three are winnable and getting them would mean 9-9 is the worst they could do. And, regardless of the competition, finishing on a three-game win streak will help blunt how badly the last 1.5 months have been in the eyes of many.

Realistic best outcome: 21-10, 9-9 -- Realistically, I suppose they COULD win all four (re: the whole home vs. Indiana and how it worked for Illinois thing), but with their inconsistency, I'd probably expect them to win that and lose at least one of their other games. If they get this 3-1 mark down the stretch, I'd say they're in no matter what. I don't think they will, though. 2-2 is probably more realistic (or *gasp* 1-3), which makes things tougher. This leads to the B1G tournament. Seeds 6-9 (Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Purdue) all are nearly the same in-conference right now, while 10-12 are the desirable opponents. Penn State (#12) goes to whichever of the top teams winds up #5. That means the top two of that group of 4 get Nebraska and depleted Northwestern. Which means that the other two play each other for the right to play (likely) Indiana. It's easy to see Minnesota winding up having to beat (probably) Purdue just to hope they have a chance of some kind...unless they right the ship immediately and play their way into the #6-7 seed.

No way does Iowa deserve to get in. Minnesota will be dancing.

Iowa had a shot till they lost to Nebraska. They are cooked now. Minny might need 2 wins in the BTT.

As long as Minnesota can take 2 of 3 from Penn State, @ Nebraska, @ Purdue, they'll be in without needing an additional BTT win (although it'd help). Their RPI, SOS and wins against top competition - albeit mostly early in the year - are enough to get them in.
