John Fay ‏@johnfayman I've been out of pocket all day. Just confirmation that the Gregorius and Stubbs trade for Choo is all but complete. #reds

RIP Stubbs as my favorite Red. 2010-2012. Was there for his only grand slam, a 2 Homer game at Cincy, a home run at Wrigley, his walk off against Atlanta I think last year on Sunday night baseball, and 622 strikeouts. Sun/moondeck seats won't be the same.

Choo's career OBP is .381. If this goes through...

Phillips
Choo
Votto
Ludwick/Frazier
Bruce
Ludwick/Frazier
Cozart
Hanigan/Mesoraco

That's a solid lineup. I think Cozart being shifted down makes it more versatile and will allow him to do more with the bat. We'll see...

This trade could up being one of those that doesn't help either team. Choo has been a disappoint for the past few seasons.

Career .381 obp >>>>>>>>> Stubbs .214 batting average.

Gotta figure at GABP, Choo is a plus hitter. He compliments Votto tremendously in the #2 hole because he has a high OBP, can walk and make contact. Even in a "disappointing year", he hit 16 HR and had 43 doubles.

Not sure if Choo can play like he did in 2010, but his make-up is exactly what the Reds need. Their consistency in getting on base at the top of the order was pitiful. Combined their #1 and 2 hitters had the lowest OBP and OPS in the MLB. Votto missed 2 months. It's amazing they even made the playoffs with the 1, 2 and 3 order they ran out there many times...

Absolutely, just saying he hasn't lived up to expectations in some time.

I like the deal alot. Would love the deal if we got him re-signed. But it doesn't look like that is a possibility with Boras as his agent.

Basically this trade is Gregarious for Choo because Stubbs is beyond horrible right now. The Indians have a decent "buy-low" candidate in Stubbs. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery?

An Indians uniform will do that.

Choo has played pretty well when healthy.. he just hasn't been healthy. He's a 20-20 guy otherwise.

This Reds team will have a crazy good offense if we get him

Choo's on-base .393. #Reds leadoff guys was .254 and got 756 plates appearances. That mean reaching base 297 times, instead of 192.

I hate getting rid of Didi but I've wanted Choo for a while now. And getting rid of Stubbs is a huge positive.

I'm a bit frustrated as an Indians fan watching them dump good players again. Seems the Reds are a small market city playing big market ball these days!! Must be nice having ownership willing to spend money.

I probably would've tried to trade Cozart after this season or next. Cozart is 27 and we had control of Didi for, I think, the next 6 years.

If Choo is leading off I don't know that I want BP 2nd. That's a lot of GIBP opportunities.
