This was my initial thought. People eat insects all over the world, and nobody else even got sick, so I sincerely doubt it was the content of his meal here that made him sick.

And I remember that water thing.

This was a really gross contest, but I'm not sure why it's considered any more stupid than a milk-chugging contest, sans the grossness factor.
