He's mainly a spot up shooter but has developed a pretty good shot off the dribble.

I would assume he won't get a lot of time behind Waiters at the 2. But he should be productive when he gets minutes.

Defense, well he has never known what that is.

[h=3]Source: Nets Preparing To Pursue Trade For Dwight[/h] Jan 22, 2013 11:02 AM EST
The Brooklyn Nets are preparing to make another run at Dwight Howard, according to a source.

Playing in Brooklyn with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson was at the top of Howard’s list last summer and the Nets are convinced that he still has a strong desire to make the Barclays Center his home office. The Nets have played well under P.J. Carlesimo and feel like the addition of Howard could be the piece that gets them to the NBA Finals.

Nets general manager Billy King has closely monitored the struggling Lakers and quietly searched for a third team with an attractive piece that would help facilitate a trade that would deliver Howard to the Nets, according to sources.

The Lakers have struggled through injuries, a coaching change and a lack of chemistry this season. The team is currently 17-24 and facing the reality that missing the playoffs seems inevitable. The feeling out of Brooklyn is that Howard can be had for the right price because of the Lakers’ struggles and long-term commitment to a collection of pieces that just don’t seem to fit or complement Howard’s assortment of skills.

The only missing element was a third team with an attractive piece that would force the Lakers to consider the future of the franchise and directly question Howard about the direction he’s leaning at this point of the season. King, according to sources, was confident that he had a trade proposal that was a perfect fit for all teams involved.

According to sources, King was planning to contact the Minnesota Timberwolves in order to gauge their interest in a three-team trade that would send Kevin Love to the Lakers, Brook Lopez to the Timberwolves and Dwight Howard to the Nets. Other small pieces would need to be included, but the proposed trade was thought to be intriguing enough to start conversations in the Lakers front office that would force them to deal with Howard earlier than planned.

That idea, however, was shelved when Love was sidelined 8-10 weeks with a broken hand. The Nets believed the Lakers would be interested in Love, but not an injured Love, even if they’re facing missing the playoffs, according to sources.

King will still look around for an attractive piece for the Lakers, but won’t make getting Howard as big a priority as last season, according to sources. But he will continue to watch the Lakers and explore intriguing trade options, sources said.

Why the hell would Minnesota ever give up Kevin Love? I sure as shit wouldn't trade him for freaking Brook "I'm tall and have no muscle mass" Lopez.

I think he's going to opt out and boost on them in a couple of years, but it still seems way too early to make a panic move.

I'd take my chances. I mean, I'd rather have Kevin Love leave than get Brook Lopez. Dude is a center who doesn't rebound.

I don't think the Timberwolves want Kevin love on the team. The owner doesn't feel he's a superstar and had said as much publicly. But with pekovic playing the way he is they don't really need Brook Lopez

Granted, this is from the NY Post so take it with a grain of salt, but ... (and for the record, I REALLY hope the Nets hold on to Lopez, his improvement this year has been staggering and he better be an All Star game lock): http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/nets/nets_down_on_dwight_x9j5BkL1471ltkCB3FsHhL

New Orleans Pelicans will be officially announced tomorrow. That'll probably instantaneously kick off research done by the Bobcats to switch the Charlotte franchise back to the Hornets.

I know a local blog I follow down here says season ticket holders (shockingly the Bobcats have some) have been given a survey regarding their feelings about a switch back. There is also a decent sized viral following called "Bring Back the Buzz" which holds "protests" at Bobcats games where they buy a section of seats and every one comes wearing old Hornets gear. So this research phase is most likely a formality as it'd make sense for the team to take back a name most everyone wants.

I thought that initially, but it's really grown on me. I like it. It's better than the LA Lakers (dumb name if you really think about it), Suns etc...

There are a lot of dumb names, and as COA pointed out, names that dont fit the region anymore. They typically grow on you, and if the logo is done right, it makes the mascot.

It isnt even the top 5 worst names in the NBA. Lakers, Jazz and Grizzlies dont fit their region. Heat, Suns, Pacers, Magic and Nets are just stupid nicknames in general.

Haha I read that last night. I'm not sure if it's the same article but it brought up a good point: Why does he feel like he needs to do this?

As for team names irrelevant to the region -- Chicago Bulls? Perhaps what was known as Chicago 400 years ago was roaming with wild bulls? I was there a few weeks ago, didn't see any bulls running loose.

Agreed. Surprised to see a team that's been playing so successful try to break up a chunk of the starting line-up (Does Bledsoe start? 6th man? Idk)
Regardless, the Dwight Howard trade rumors are back in full swing again and it sure is annoying.
