But seriously, he was right on the Lakers issues. He just underestimated the fact that they still had great players and that would be enough.
I mean not really. He basically said they were too old. Kobe was a "fossil" and Nash was the "worst point guard in the league."

They didn't squeak in because they were old. They squeaked in because they had Mike D as their coach.

I dont actually remember what he said. Just knew that some people said they were going to be bad defensively and that Nash would struggle with Kobe having the ball more often than he is used too. etc. But Wedge might not have said those reasons lol

Lakers win and clinch the 7 seed. Will go to a banged up San Antonio.

I had a few minutes to spare, so I started looking at some of the older posts. His predictions came on posts #242, 306, 307, and 538, which was the best. About ten replies later, like_that predicted the Lakers would turn it around to spite him.

Just so nobody has to go back through the thread...
Footwedge;1308537 wrote:Lakers are soooo old. They will not make the playoffs. So painful to watch how aweful Nash is today. He can't guard and he can't even penetrate and dish anymore. A HOFer and he's now the worst point guard in the league. Gasol allowed 6-7 dunks right past him. I never realized how terrible he is on the defensive side until tonight. Kobe is a fossil, and has very little left in the tank. World Peace is a cancer and bringing 50 year old PoonTawn Jamison in from the AARP bench is a sad, sad commentary.

Howard still can't make a free throw. That team is an abomination. 0-8 in preseason....and then blown out at home against a team missing their 2 best players.

Brownie will be shitcanned by Christmas, but it's not his fault. Laker management is to blame. Even the Zenmeister would be lucky to squeeze 30 wins out of this pile of crud.
Footwedge;1309660 wrote:Yeah shit happens. The Lakers rebounded strongly tonight against a team that didn't sniff the playoffs last year with an impressive double digit blowout loss.

Lakers....now 0-10 for the year. I'll take any action that the Lakers are a lottery pick team this year. PM me if interested.
Footwedge;1309661 wrote:I watched him plenty in the preseason...and on TV last night. The man is washed up...and is the worst point guard in the league when you include defense as part of the package. He can't move at all. very painful to watch.

Now...you want a little action on the Lake Show being a lottery team? PM me.
Footwedge;1316781 wrote:Doesn't matter who coaches this team. They are simply not very good. Did I mention they are old? Very old. And overrated.

Nash is wayyy over the hill and Bryant has lost a step. Jamison should not be in the league and Pau Gasol doesn't know what defending means. Only Howard is is in his prime , but with his inability to make foul shots, it's hard for him to be on the floor during crunch time.

I said it above...Brownie will get fired and cast as the scapegoat. But this team will not make the playoffs...doesn't matter who the coach is.
Footwedge;1316783 wrote:You were one of the ones that LOL'd me when I called this. Basketball coaches in the NBA are in fact important. But like every pro sport, you need the horses. Brown had very little talent to work with. Big names that are washed up are...well...big names that are washed up.

Brownie's winning style in Cleveland was all about defending. Who on that LA team has ever played a lick of defense? nobody..except maybe Metta Peace a few years ago.

They are old, and they are bad, and they will not make the playoffs. Save my posts if you want just in case I'm wrong. I'm usually right.

LOL. I really did think they would make the playoffs, however if you are a betting man (which I am) always pick opposite of what footwedge predicts.

So the playoffs are underway. Any chance the finals don't end up as Heat vs. Thunder/Spurs winner?

If LBJ dies...

The NBA is close to finalizing a flopping policy.
Flopping has long been a criticized aspect of the game, especially over the past decade.
Flops will not have an in-game penalty, but will be reviewed after the fact with a possible fine.

About time they've done something about this, be interesting to see how it plays out.

I think it for the most part took away that flop....but now players seem to be more prevalent at flailing their legs on jump shots and the refs call it way more than I feel they should.....but overall it's considerably better.

I give Footwedge credit because he did rip on a team at the time the entire nation was basically saying had a finals appearance wrapped up
