[h=3]NBA Close To Establishing Policy On Flopping[/h] Sep 27, 2012 6:58 PM EDT
The NBA is close to finalizing a flopping policy.
Flopping has long been a criticized aspect of the game, especially over the past decade.
Flops will not have an in-game penalty, but will be reviewed after the fact with a possible fine.

About time they've done something about this, be interesting to see how it plays out.

About damn time. I like how they will review after the fact instead of during the game.

Why no IN-GAME penalty? It's a technical in HS ball. Rarely called, but mostly because it's not a point of emphasis. If they make it a point of emphasis in the NBA, and harp on officials to call it, I bet you'd see more techs.

Yeah I'm not sure either ETB. Something that needs to be cleaned up, regardless of how they do. Glad they're not ignoring the issue anymore.

Also big blow to Wiz fans, John Wall out 8 weeks with an injury to his patella.

The NBA doesn't want its stars sitting on the bench.

Dwight Howard's doctor said today that he expects him to be ready for the season opener and "better than ever". Howard will be a MONSTER in LA.

I dont think you can enforce flopping with any consistency IN GAME. Reviews, sure, though still tough. In game is virtually impossible. So I like this approach. Although, it all depends on how much the fine is.

ESPN was bashing this, actually. Said the players shouldn't be fined, but instead it should either be a charge or shouldn't.
Anyone think the finals won't be Heat vs Lakers or Thunder?

Agreed. OKC will put up a fight against the Lakers, but LA was in a good position to win that series last year and let it slip away (not to discredit the Thunder). The addition of Steve Nash will help that offense late in games. Howard will protect the basketball against Durant, Westbrook and Harden.

I still don't see the Lakers beating OKC, they don't match up well with them. Westbrook will cook Nash and the Lakers still can't defend on the perimeter.

With Howard in the middle, it won't be as crucial. I'm not a huge Nash fan, but even at his age, I think his impact on the Lakers will be more than people expect. Maybe greater than Howard's. OKC is going to struggle defending LA.

This. They'll just fine the shit out of superstars making $10-20M/yr. who will never notice the money is even missing instead of actually calling a foul on them.

I think OKC poses more matchup problems for LA than LA does for OKC. That would be a series where Perkins could actually play and be effective in.

NBA Champion
ROY- Anthony Davis (big surprise seeing as he was on the Olympic team)
DPOY- Dwight Howard (Going to be a stud in LA, and will be relied upon less for scoring and more for D)
MVP- Lebron James (SURPRISE)
Most Surprising team- Cleveland Cavs (Have the potential to be amazing considering that they have great young talent and a phenomenal past 2 years in the draft)
Most Disappointing- NY Knicks and Brooklyn Nets
Eastern Conference Champs- Heat
Western Conference Champs- Lakers
All NBA 1st Team-
G- Chris Paul
G- Dwayne Wade
F- Lebron James
F- Blake Griffin
C- Dwight Howard (Yes only three teams represented in the 1st-team)

Basketball is possibly the most predictable professional sport

Well Blake is better all-around as a player. KD puts up HUGE points but Blake Griffin does is at both ends
