Could be wrong..but from what I remember it turned into a "who would you take" debate.Laley23;1289796 wrote:LOL. No it wasnt. It literally started with a position by position breakdown, for THAT series. Phillips did not have better numbers going into the series.
I don't really care, I just made the comment on this thread as a joke, didn't mean to rile anyone up lol

It did turn into that, because the Reds fans said it isnt a debate. Most of us then agreed. A few people said they would still take Kipnis, but not too many.SportsAndLady;1289797 wrote:Could be wrong..but from what I remember it turned into a "who would you take" debate.

I said Id take Kipnis for that series, and if I was starting a team (ie, age being a major factor). But also said for the next few years, BP is the better guy to have.

Okay yeah I swear I remember it turning into a "who would you rather have on your team" debate...gotta be BP, he's just unreal. Kipnis is good though. Needs to put a full season together.Laley23;1289801 wrote:It did turn into that, because the Reds fans said it isnt a debate. Most of us then agreed. This was a comment on an article on cleveland.com, and is sadly a realistic intepretation
Well, one of the messages the owners gave was, "That's our major Free Agent signing as well as Team Upgrade for this off season. Now we expect you players to play up to our (unrealistic) expectations and secure a playoff spot next year."

Exactly!! This front office really believes they have a world series roster right now...they have no idea how to evaluate talent, this roster is full of minor leaguers!

That's a good thing, because they wouldn't spend it even if he did.Francona: "I didn't ask for ownership to go out and spend a lot of money.

I love the hire.
Watching his presser, you get the feeling he knows ownership won't spend any money. He continually talks about getting the best out of the players that are here, because he knows there won't be any players of significance coming from elsewhere.

It is looking like Shapiro/Antonetti were able to get their asses fully covered in the deal, as Francona's contract appears to have an out clause if either or both of those two jackasses are let go.
