JMOG wishes he was as retarded as my BIL lol.

They've been in Stockholm for at least a decade now. They're pretty far out of the American loop.
I admit, I came across a little harsh, but you know me well enough to know that a MS in EE and an MBA doesn't make me wish I was "that retarded". I'm not going to get into the "who's smarter" argument because everyone becomes retarded in that exchange.

Did I come across too harsh? yes.

Does it take much analytical thought to figure out that multiple attacks on US embassies in the ME on the anniversary of 9/11 or within days of it was a terrorist plot and not a spontaneous reaction to a TRAILER to a STUPID movie?

Oh, and I'm not a republican, more liberterian than anything. I don't care if it is a D or R, get me someone who wants to give back freedoms to the people and the states and make the federal government smaller, and I will vote for them.

I loved Ron Paul, but I am also a realist and will vote for the D or R at this point that has a better shot of doing just what I stated above.

How about I restate my original comment to be that anyone who believed that was most definitely ignorant of the facts or uninformed.

Not saying I think you are wrong, just looking for an explanation.
I'm not saying that there haven't been some protests and riots due to the film, like people have said, Muslims have done more over far less.

However, the thread was specifically about Libya, it has already been stated by Egypt, Libya, and our own government that is was a terrorist attack. The White House knew for sure within 24 hours that it was not about the film, that it was a terrorist attack.

That's my explanation, it has been proven to not be about the film.

It's happened before when people made caricatures of Muhammed. It's happened before when people have made jokes about Muhammed. Why is it shocking you now?

People rioted and all that and put bounties on heads, etc.

However, no one assassinated an American diplomat on American soil (embassies are our soil) on the anniversary of 9/11. It was obvious to those that really paid attention that it was terrorism not the BS the media and White House tried to sell it as.

And they stormed Denmarks embassy in Syria after the cartoon in the Danish paper and burned it down. Luckily for the ambassador, he was evacuated or he would have been killed too.

This is nothing new.

Are the hardcore anti-Obama folks on here really going to deny the irrationality of radical islam (i.e. burning down a kfc cus of a crappy movie is par for the course) despite their generally accepted disdain for Islam because it gives them much better feelings in their tummy to declare that Obama lied about a terrorist attack and this ultimately is more evidence for why he is an incompetent fool?

Pretty impressive.

This must be what happens when you start to realize that the enormous effort put into bringing the President down over the last few years is culminating in a triumphant failure and going down in flames. :o

Anyone that thinks that video had anything to do with a coordinated attack (which apparently the WH is saying now) needs to have their head examined. It is amazing what some people will believe.

Sounds to me they are out of every loop. I don't care about degrees. For God's sake Obama is a HLS graduate and for some reason thinks that it is the government's job to make a case that criticizing one particular religion is wrong. Even using the phrase "prophet Muhammed" is poor form in my opinion. If George W. Bush criticized "Piss Christ" because it offends followers of "the Lord Jesus Christ" in his official capacity, or if Tom Cruise criticized South Park because it offends followers of "Overlord Xenu" "liberals" would go nuts.

For some reason because a certain group acts like petulant children our answer is appeasement. When has that ever worked? And who is dumb enough to actually believe this crap?

Jmog wasn't harsh at all. I'm amazed how dumb our political discourse has become on the "leftist" end....the people that championed the right to show "Piss Christ" 15 years ago are now cowardly saying we can't say anything bad about Islam. It is absolute idiocy. And the video is nothing more than a smokescreen.

I don't care what you think or what your relatives in Stockholm think, our POTUS just made this comment to the UN:

"The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. But to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated, or churches that are destroyed, or the Holocaust that is denied."

He's an idiot and needs out. At this point I don't see how anyone can vote for this clown who obviously doesn't understand the preciousness of free speech. Does Obama even understand the meaning of "slander"? My freaking God. What have we done? This is the dumbest statement I've ever heard from a POTUS. There isn't even a second place. Either we have free speech or we don't. We have lost our minds electing this coward.

After Barack Obama, sign me up!

Did you read his comment above, he's gone full retard. Let me explain it to you (since I realize you're not evil, you're you know the other side, special I guess).

"The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam"

Again I'm not sure what our POTUS is doing using the word prophet (but to be fair none of his comment makes sense), but apparently he's either speaking for himself or on behalf of the U.S. (completely inappropriately) that we should not "slander" (and I use that in quotes because I'm not sure how our genius HLS Constitutional law professor can bollox the word slander so much) a religious figure, whether he is historical or mythical.

Yet continues to say:

"But to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated, or churches that are destroyed, or the Holocaust that is denied."

Yet he just condemned it, where is he (or the U.S.) now in condemning the constant "slander" we see of other religions routinely in the U.S.?

It was an idiotic statement by an unqualified POTUS, and we might have him for four more years. It is truly unbelievable.

You have really got to stop being sooo dramatic. He vigorously defended free speech too! It's called a measured, reasonable speech. He was simply alluding to the concept of being offended but then went on to say that no amount of offensive speech justifies violence. He even said he would fight to defend the Manhattan Buckeye's of the world saying bad things about him every day!

He did indeed say that, and most of his speech was good, I'll give you that.

But the portion I posted was absolutely stupefying. It made no sense, not one sense at all. How does one compare denial of the Holocaust (which aside from in Germany where it is a crime is just a silly opinion, and all [not most, all] of my Jewish friends laugh about it) compare to burning a church, which you know is an actual crime (cough, cough - arson).

It was a complete logic fail that if W would have said would be national news 24/7 right now. It was dumb. It was hopelessly dumb. It was Obama-dumb.

Obama praised men like you for fighting defend American/Western values like free speech in his speech...He did defend America and stand up for America and also at the same time called out the Muslim world for going nuts over a movie while they're going to sit by when Ahmajinedad, a Holocaust denier, is going to stand up their and blow bluster towards Israel when he calls Israelis "uncivilized zionists."

Honestly, as far as I can tell, this is probably an example of when President Obama has said things conservatives ordinarily agree with but the bitching never ends. Reality must be sinking in that it's gonna be four more years unless some unforeseen event turns the tide and so it's time to start grasping at straws in hopes of creating a pseudo-event.

So where is our Messiah suggesting that Trey Parker, Bill Maher and Seth MacFarlane stop degrading religion.

I curiously await your response. You make this too easy.
