MY CHOICE would be to move back to Richmond or Columbus...but that isn't an option. In the OBAMACONOMY there are NO JOBS for people with our skills. We'll take our US$250,000+ salary and go where it takes us, as of now it isn't the United States. Unfortunately it isn't convenient for us but we are flexible. We aren't food stamp people, we aren't dependent people, we are Americans making a living overseas because it sucks big time in the U.S. right now, and we just voted for more sucking.

Why is his race relevant at all to his duties as President? If someone to criticize him based on his color then he'd be attacked as a racist. Bringing up his race as something that should be celebrated is no different.

Well, it would appear that John McCain finally has a victory against President Obama. Susan Rice has withdrawn her name from consideration for the SOS position after all of the criticism leveled at her from McCain and his sidekicks, Graham and Ayotte.

It's sad that they felt the need to crucify this diplomatic veteran just to score a few political points. McCain even said at one point that she "wasn't very bright". Pretty rich, coming from the man who was willing to put a complete novice on his ticket four years ago.

I believe that Ms. Rice clearly showed herself to be a patriot by backing off rather than allowing more "McCarthyesque" nonsense to continue. There is no doubt in my mind that she would win a straight-up vote in the Senate, but she didn't want to cause the country and the President to have to deal with a long, protracted series of confirmation hearings that would amount to little more than a witch hunt.

It sure would be nice if these Republican "Three Stooges" spent as much time and energy in working for their constutuents and helping to improve the economy as they did in short-circuiting a nomination before it even happened.

1. Susan Rice is no diplomatic genius. A few seconds of Google search under "Susan Rice" and "Rwanda genocide" will show that Benghazi was not the first foul-up.

2. If she really is as bright and filled with diplomatic experience as you say, then she was dishonest and lying on those 5 Sunday shows. Strike two.

3. McCain and the others can walk and chew gum at the same time, i.e., handle domestic issues while having influence in foreign policy. And I'm sure Robert Bork, along with some of George W's judicial nominees, probably don't feel too sorry for Susan Rice, considering the smearing and trashing they received from the likes of Joe Biden and Ted Kennedy back in the day.

4. Only in this administration can someone so connected with the debacle that was the aftermath of Benghazi be considered for a promotion. Although when your entire campaign narrative was "Look at how racist and misogynist Republicans are!", it makes sense to appoint and promote as many women and minorities as possible to key positions to maximize the number of opportunities for playing the race/gender card.

Of course it had nothing to do with her incompetence and poor qualifications.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people rationalize their nut-licking over a party (whether it is DEM or GOP). What would it take StLouie for you to criticize a DEM? Rape your wife and murder your child?

Rice was lucky to have the job she had, and she stunk at it.

1. Susan Rice is as qualified to be Secretary of State as anyone in the country, including the current SOS and anyone W. had.

2. She used the same CIA briefing points that McCain and anyone else in the Senate had available at the time. Don't even go to the "lying" card. Condi and Powell did a pretty good job of lying themselves in the days leading up to the trumped-up invasion of Iraq.

3. Sadly, John McCain is now a mere shadow of what he once was. He comes off in this whole mess as a bitter old man who still is smarting from the 2008 campaign. At least Bork and the others made it to nominee status. Rice couldn't get that far because of McCain's hatred and bitterness. Do you think for one moment that any of the others would have come forward had McCain balked? Graham and Ayotte had their own reasons for joining McCain, as they were both drooling shills for Mitt Romney during this last campaign and saw this as an opportunity to become relevant again.

4. If going on the Sunday talk shows and using CIA-prepared material that everyone on Congress had access to is "so connected", then you must be really out of touch with reality. It's a sad day when a spokesman becomes the target, but that's the norm these days. So many Republicans are accused of race-baiting and misogyny because of the nonsense they have to spout to appease their extreme right-wing base, like you and your ilk here on the OC. They're so afraid of being "primaried" that they will say and do anything to pander to you and your kind.
