It was long in the book.

Can't do the movie without him.

Is this your first Peter Jackson movie? Lol I think all 3 LOTR and King Kong were about 3 hours long.

I haven't seen it yet, but I will wait until the other 2 come out before I say that. I wasn't a huge fan of the first LOTR movie until I saw all 3 of them.

So which parts did they add in for filler then? My buddy who went with me said they didn't make it that far into the book with this first installment. He told me the scene with Gollum/Bilbo was longer in the book as well.

I was disappointed with the Gollum/Bilbo scene, and the whole dwarves trapped with the goblins thing.

LOTR flew in comparison to this one. I mean the book was only 280 pages long so to try and get 3 movies out of that, let alone three-3 hour movies, there's going to be a lot of lulls.

Saw it yesterday, liked it. Reminded me of the pacing of the FotR. Anyone complaining about the scenes running too long has obviously never read Tolkien's work. He is very descriptive in the books, to say the least.

Made $138 million abroad as well.

I saw it Thursday night/Friday morning and I enjoyed it. Picked the 2D version for that since I just wanted to see the film first without worrying about the new format (and it was $3). I'll probably see it in HFR in Canton sometime this week just to check that out.
