It's sports related and a decent read. You can handle it.Ironman92;1279742 wrote:wtfl;dr

Offensive pass interference ref blew it... It cost a team a game... Two bad calls in the end... The refs literally gave this game to Seattle. That was highway robbery

After this game, the ravens/pats game, and the SF/Minn game - no reason the real refs shouldn't be signed by the time Baltimore and Cleveland kick off.

for those who continue to say the rate of calls is the same, half of the calls i saw last night were away from the play and had no effect on the outcome.

So the 8 sacks the Packers gave up had nothing to do with it?sportchampps;1279792 wrote:Offensive pass interference ref blew it... It cost a team a game... Two bad calls in the end... The refs literally gave this game to Seattle. That was highway robbery

Depends on the penalty, but I don't entirely agree with this statement.Gblock;1279924 wrote:those type of plays usually result in no calls

@Web & Gblock. Not sure which direction you guys are going with this, but I'll crime in. Safety or personal fouls alway should be called. I have no idea why defensive holding was called on the 7 yard hook when the ball was already being thrown 30 yards downfield.

the direction im going is that the refs while they may be nice guys and are trying their best are in over their heads. they are providing substandard officiating. Not that I know many who defend them, but the ones that are use the frequency of calls to say that the game is essentially being reffed about the same. I beg to differ. I watched almost all of the games, and half of the times on the replay the announcers as well as everyone in my living room would say where was the holding/interference and that is even if the refs themselves agree with the call. in the baltimore game one ref calls offensive interference on torrey smith td catch and the other ref comes in and says no it wasnt interference and gave the touchdown.
besides that there is no rhythm to the games and they take forever.

From Peter King again:
Isn't that the truth, can you imagine what a nightmare that would be for the league? Hadn't thought about that.RT @SatansLollipop: After last night, only argument real refs need to make to Goodell is, "Do you want the Super Bowl to look like this?"

I'll chime in and state that I think many of the player are getting more aggressive in seeing what they can get away with, particularly out on the pass routes. There seems to be a lot more bumping and grabbing downfield.Gblock;1279895 wrote:for those who continue to say the rate of calls is the same, half of the calls i saw last night were away from the play and had no effect on the outcome.
The calls still suck though - it's almost as if after every play you have stop and ask "OK, how are they gonna decide what to call on THIS play"?

My issue is that we were being sold that one of the major problems is that the players are larger and the game far faster than the replacements are used to. While true, the problem at the end of last night's game was one of simple incomptence. The missed calls would be exactly the same at any level of ball, and the players were basically stationary. The "too big too fast" excuse doesn't wash.

I actually enjoy the games better with the replacement refs. They seem to let the players play a little bit rather than calling every ticky tack penalty.
It seems the players and the coaches are the ones disrespecting the game and making it worse than the actual referees. A $1,000,000 fine for bitching against the refs should do the trick.

24 penalties for 245 yards last night combine.
That is what you consider "letting them play"?

after watching the last play in slow motion again i am flabbergasted that offensive pass interference wasnt called. he shoved him completely to the ground.

If anything, that miss is actually worse than the possession call.Gblock;1280012 wrote:after watching the last play in slow motion again i am flabbergasted that offensive pass interference wasnt called. he shoved him completely to the ground.
