Where were you and what were you doing when you got news that the World Trade Centers had been hit?
I was a freshman in college, had just got back from a public speaking class, and we got a call from my friends dad saying turn on the tv. We just sat there for the rest of the day watching news coverage.

Probably the most intense time in my life. I remember being glued to the TV.

Junior year of high school - we watched coverage the rest of the day. One of my friends was pulled from class, his dad was flying boston to LA that morning and they were rushing to track him down. Luckily he was on a different flight.

My office is on the flight path of a major airport and between watching the news coverage on TV I watched planes land for six straight hours one after another thru my window.

I was at work. I spent the day on cnn.com hitting refresh. Apparently everyone else did the same thing becuase the page timed out 95% of the time.

I was landing in PHL as the first tower was hit. Missed getting a rental car out of town, instead got one of the last hotel rooms at the airport and spent the next 2 days stuck there with nothing but the clothes on my back. Ended up taking a 24 hour Greyhound ride back Thursday night.

I was in my class "Exploring Music: Bach to Rock" until 10:30 and then went to do homework in the student center until my afternoon class. It was about 11:45 when a friend walks by me and says "what are you doing man, I am going home planes are flying into buildings everywhere". I packed up my books and went down to the TVs and looked at a surreal scene of 100s of college students gathered around a single TV watching replays of the collisions and collapses of the towers. I called my wife on the pay phone and she asked me why I wasn't on my way home yet because Akron U was closed. Sure enough, 5 minutes later campus police came through and told everyone to go home, even the dorm residents. I will never forget that day.

At my office. Can still remember the rage I felt when they kept replaying the planes hitting the towers and the reports of the other planes.

Junior in high school, English class.
The guy who broke the news to me ended up working in the Pentagon a year or two later. I have a feeling that day drove him to the Marines and working in the Pentagon.

Took the day off work for a doctors appointment. Was listening to howard stern when he announced it. Turned the tv on and watched the rest of the day while listening to stern.

I had the day off and was babysitting my niece. It's still hard to listen to the audio and watch the videos of that day.

I was in downtown Chicago on a business trip. There was much panic that morning because rumors were all over about planes headed for the Sears Tower. Later that day the downtown seemed quiet and deserted. Very eerie. My company had to send a car for me 2 days later since there was no air travel.

I was a junior in HS and was in my 2nd period business class. All but one teacher let us watch news coverage the rest of the day. A lot of people went home, but my close friends and I all stayed. My stepdad was traveling to Chicago that day for work so I called my mom from the office (none of us had cell phones back then) to make sure he was fine. It was obviously a relief to find out he was okay.
Our house at the time was on the main street in our town and the only gas station was right down the road from us. I remember sitting on our front porch and seeing cars and trucks lined up for hours waiting to get gas. It all seemed so surreal at the time.

^^^ I remember the gas panic..We were all so scared it was going to jump to above $2.00/gallon
I was a junior in high school. One of my friends told me about it in the hallway and I went into a classroom and watched all day. We went under lock down and all of our practices and athletic events were cancelled that evening.

46th floor at 1177 Avenue of the Americas, 3 co-workers lost family members. My boss lost his father-in-law, an older real estate partner lost his son-in-law, and our HR director lost her fiancé. All worked at Cantor Fitzgerald.

Wait...your parents must have let you watch PG-13 movies when you were 9. Got it now.
