Mrs. Moore's 5th grade English class. Just finished watching Channel One news and the coverage came on. We were sent home from school and I watched the news all day.

My eeriest 9/11 memory came on 9/11/2002. I was working at a chemical plant and had to go out of town on business, our flight left on 9/11/2002 a year to the day later. My wife was NOT happy about that.

I was traveling, with my boss, from Columbus to Baltimore, short flight. The stewardess made an annoucement before taxi'ng that if anyone needed to use the restroom we better do it now because if ANYONE stood up out of their seats during the flight, we would turn back around to Columbus (you know, year to the day later and flying toward's Washington DC). It was BY FAR the quietest flight I have ever been on.

We land, go get our rental car and start driving to the business we were going to. We get into the car around 8:50 am and turn on the radio and the announcers are going crazy about plans flying into buildings (not mentioning what buildings yet) and we look at each other and both say "oh no, not again". About 5-10 minutes goes by before a host jumps in and says that they were replaying the previous years broadcast of the 9/11 attacks.

There was a 5+ minute span where we both honestly thought it was happening again a year later on 9/11/2002.

Was a freshman in college. Was just waking up to get ready for class when the planes hit.

I was a sophomore in high school in Pre-Calc. We watched it on the TV in the class room.

I was working at home, had the TV on in the room when the first report of a plane hitting the tower came on. After the second plane hit the, my wife was home also she called the school to pick up my kids... As a family watch the news all day.

I'm glad people are still having the 8:46 moment of silence, 11 years later.

I was teaching Government to a classroom full of high school seniors.

One thing I asked my current students today (who were in first grade at the time), if they had any recollection of the lines to get gas later that day? Very few did. How about any of you young pups on here?

I detailed that memory above. With only one gas station it was pretty crazy to see the line. Traffic was backed up through town.

Other than sympathy for the victims and their families, the biggest emotion I experienced was anxiety due to the vulnerability I now felt. Before 9/11, I always felt 'safe', but not then...it was very discomforting.

I had the day off, was on my pc buying Gator football tix. Had the tv on, heard a report and turned to CNN for the rest of the day. Had a cousin who was Sgt. Major based in the Pentagon but wasn't there that morning. Spent the whole day on the phone with family making sure everyone was ok. My brother was in the Navy and had a classified status, we hardly ever heard from him for 12 of his 20+ years. He was home a couple weeks later for a short leave.
We were at the Charlotte race with my dad Oct. 7th. It was amazing, 5000 firefighters stood shoulder to shoulder around the whole track. There was a gigantic flag hanging from two ladder trucks. Lee Greenwood sang 'God Bless the USA', over 140,000 people shouted "USA,USA,USA...", then right before the start, on the jumbotrons they showed a live feed of the USA bombing Afganistan. Say what you want about Nascar, its USAmerican Patriotic.

In Hoboken, NJ, directly across from the Towers. At the time, it was the worst day of my life. Still remember the sites and smells of that horribly sad day.

I was at home watching and thinking what the fuck. Later that night I told my parents I was joining some kind of military branch and the rest is history.

Seventh grade, had a study hall first period that day. Watched it on T.V. for a majority of the day but still had a few classes.

4th year of teaching and waiting for my 2nd class in the hallway

At the end of school day it was very panicked and a 4 year old (who was with a parent to pick up their kids) pulled the fire alarm and sweet Jesus everyone went nuts.

Played a softball game that night and was low on gas....waited in line for 40 minutes and the $1.29 gas was raised to $1.99.

I was on vacation and playing golf. We noticed a lot of commercial airplanes flying over the golf course.We thought something is going on here. We saw the news in the clubhouse.
