I did that myself bc people did it all the time...but I still stand by the comment I made. Talk Peyton Manning into coming to Cleveland in a year or two and he can be the OC.

Pat Shurmur is supposed to be a "great offensive mind" and great offensive coach. Our offense last year was pathetic. Granted only 1 game so far but after 1 game this year it has regressed, if that's possible. Weeden may indeed be in way over his head, but Shurmur looks to be on a quick train outta town.

Wondering what jordo thinks of Trent Richardson and how his form looks on this play. /sarcasm

lol..yeah, he is awesome. They will probably win the super bowl if he plays like he did today. I mean, it isn't like the Browns didn't drop a game winning interception in the endzone.....

Still have a "sick to my stomach" feeling this morning. For just ONCE could they win a season opener?

Just sickening. Vick handed that game to them on a silver platter. Once Fort dropped that INT I said 'and there it is....TD's coming."

I don't know whether to have optimism about the defense or not. They got gashed for 450+ yards but were opportunistic when they needed to be. Was the defense a "ball hawking defense" or is Vick as bad as advertised?

The offense? Puke

watching it in person....Vick either makes amazing throws or just terrible ones...no inbetween. He fit some passes in there where there was virtually no window. Then he turns around and throws terrible picks. I consider Philly a legitimate super bowl team...talent wise, but you cannot run through the playoffs with a qb like him.

Also, after reading back through this thread, I guess I should tell some of you guys....I am not a mod anymore. I told justin that I am just not on here enough anymore...and when I am, I only read through the Cleveland threads for the most part.

Andy Reid is partially to blame. He's so friggin pass happy. Any coach should know the FIRST thing you do is test the Browns' shaky run defense. Had he done that more often (early), Shady probably goes for 150-200 yards. But I agree that no team is going to win a SB with a QB like Vick running the show. I'll be interested to see what Cincinnati looks like tonight.

Yeah, I told the girl I was with...I cannot believe that they weren't running Shady at all. They didn't figure it out until they were up against the wall....sadly, they did figure it out though.

watching the game i didnt get the feeling that they got gashed...i thought they did the best they could for being on the field for the whole game...i think the eagles ran like 88 plays or so. they gave up some runs but i thought they played well on their side of the 50 and in the red zone. very impressed w haden

Makes his upcoming suspension that much worse. I hope he is able to pick-up where he left off when it is over.

Aaron Goldhammer on ESPN850 that Jimmy Haslam sat next to him at the Browns press conference after the game for the Pat Shurmur portion.

He might as well just start updating his resume now, because when the new owner is showing up to your press conference looking for answers to what we all saw you are done.

There will be. It might not be until next season (by the time the appeals play out), but any type of substance violation usually always gets the guy his 4 games (unless he is a repeat offender).

My understanding is that if we don't hear any more about it, it may go away (winning his appeal).

We're going to win some games this year because we have a top 5 defense. We are going to lose games this year because we have a bottom 1 offense.

Yeah, I kinda agree...although, I think team will just start pounding the run against us..and that might be trouble. I just hope that Weeden throws a touchdown pass at some point this year.

Pretty much how I felt last year after week 1. This year sucks, however I was bracing for it to happen, especially after Shurmur didn't go for 2. It was just fate for the Browns to lose by 1, especially since the offense gave the Eagles offense about 4 extra series they shouldn't have had. You can't expect the defense to keep making play after play like that.

+1 after the missed interception. You MUST take advantage of those opportunities. As for the defense, I am more optimistic than worried. It's a passing league, you are going to see more teams than not rely on the pass. They def still have work on the rush D. They are a couple players away, but once they get a couple guys to help with the rush D, this defense could be pretty damn lethal. Unfortunately the defense will be wasted be the offense.

They have a SB type defense. Getting Demeco was a good pickup. He was all over the place, but Vick is just god awful, and Reid does have a hard on for the pass. Not only that, but either the Browns pass rush is highly underrated or the Eagles offensive line just sucks ass, because there was pressure on Vick all game. Their LT or RT practically had to hold the whole game, because of the amount of times he was getting blown off the ball. I just don't see them representing the NFC, and I couldn't see it in preseason either. We will see though all what matters is they are 1-0 now.

I know that he's "more comfortable" at LDE but I was hoping they'd move Sheard across from Philly's left tackle. Their RT is a better player and I think Sheard could've done more damage coming from the right side.
