And over the same number of games Heisey has a .902 OPS including a .323 average

Not more impressive than a .382 OPS

Yea I can't imagine anyone having a worse ops over that time. The guy is just plain terrible.

While meanwhile in Pittsburgh, one of the big questions (behind "WTF happened, guys?") is wondering why Rod Barajas still gets half (or more) of the playing time at catcher despite being a hair under .200 and barely over .100 since the all-star break or so. While McKenry is hitting .260 or so with solid power being the second guy...Rotinaj;1260736 wrote:Yea I can't imagine anyone having a worse ops over that time. The guy is just plain terrible.
At times you just have to wonder how these guys get so much playing time despite being so, so horrible. I know Stubbs is fast and good in the field and people say a lot of good things about Barajas as far as handling pitchers goes...but when a mannequin hits as good as they do, what's the point of bringing them out virtually every day?

Catchers have always needed more time off. I keep hearing the Stubbs defense is so good piss poor argument....if that's the case why didn't Pokey Reese play 15 years in the big leagues....cause his defense actually was so good.

I agree, but this is like a 50/50 split (maybe even 60/40 in favor of the lesser of the two) when one guy is so bad at the plate he makes Stubbs look at least mediocre in comparison and the other has been pretty solid. It should be 75/25 in favor of McKenry (or whatever the Hanigan/Navarro split has been during that period when Mes was unavailable due to concussion/suspension/sent down).Ironman92;1260748 wrote:Catchers have always needed more time off. Well, if you watch enough Reds it's Hanigan's job unless he needs rest. He's been great.
Stubbs gets 95% of the starts....if not more.

Oh yeah, I totally agree with Hanigan. I just think with the Pirates, McKenry has shown he deserves that kind of workload until he shows he isn't capable of handling it. The situation in Pittsburgh at catcher would be like if the Reds used Corky Miller as the second catcher...and gave him half the starts even though he was batting .200 while Hanigan was doing like he's doing.Ironman92;1260763 wrote:Well, if you watch enough Reds it's Hanigan's job unless he needs rest. As inexplicable as Stubbs getting 95% of the starts.

I'm actually proud of Stubbs at the plate today. Anytime he doesn't add a K to the total is a great day for him.

Yup well worth it though. I'm sure he probably made 1 catch look easier than Heisey would of made it look. Can't take out that defense!!!!!Ironman92;1260772 wrote:Yeah....and he ran really fast on his bounce outs.

Complete joke that Stubbs not only continues to play everyday, but also that he continues to bat 2nd! Come on Joey, get your ass back to Cincy!

This isn't Joey's fault.

Everybody knows I have stuck with Stubbs, but he is freaking awful. I'm sick of seeing him in the lineup and batting second. I have no idea how he has just continually gotten worse, but it's time for him to be benched permanently.

I think Stubbs moves down when Joey gets back, that's the only reason I said it.Ironman92;1260817 wrote:This isn't Joey's fault.

You watch him go Phillips 1st and move Cozy to 7th.
