UNIVERSITY SCHOOL SUNS
Coach: Roger Harriott
Record: 0-0
Team overview: University School is one of the fastest-rising programs in the state. The Suns were in the Class 2B championship game in 2010, where they lost in triple overtime to Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic.
Prospect history: Even though University School's history is fairly recent, there are some prospects making a name for themselves at FBS programs. Defensive back Devin Gaulden received some playing time as a freshman for Wisconsin last year. Linebacker Justin Cooper was listed on the two-deep depth chart for Texas Tech after redshirting last season. University School had six prospects sign with FBS schools in the class of 2012, with three-star wide receiver Macgarrett Kings Jr. (Michigan State) leading the way.
Top prospect: ESPN 150 wide receiver Jordan Cunningham (6-3, 185) is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the state. He caught 32 passes for 574 yards and eight touchdowns in 2011, while his current top group of schools includes Stanford, Miami, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Notre Dame.
New face: Running back Jordan Scarlett rushed for 568 yards and 14 touchdowns in limited duty as a backup last year. Now the full-time starter, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound sophomore could double those numbers.
Keep an eye on: Junior defensive back Quincy Wilson is one of the top Class of 2014 prospects in the state. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior will be asked to provide help in stopping Trotwood-Madison's rushing attack.
Other prospects: University School has major prospects up and down the roster. ESPN 150 defensive lineman Maquedius Bain (6-3, 285) has Miami, LSU and Alabama on his radar after decommitting from Florida State over the summer. Several players have already made verbal commitments, including linebacker Nick Internicola (Rutgers) and wide receiver Jalen Battle (Kentucky). Three-star linebacker Skai Moore has cut his list down to Rutgers and Vanderbilt and could make a decision at any time.
Bet you didn't know: Harriott was the running backs coach at Syracuse in 2010 for just a couple of days before having a change of heart and returning to University School.
VS.
TROTWOOD-MADISON RAMS
Coach: Maurice Douglass
Record: 0-0
Team overview: Trotwood-Madison is coming off of a 15-0 season in which it defeated Avon, Ohio, for the Division II state championship.
Prospect history: Since Douglass arrived in 2001, Trotwood-Madison has become a major player in recruiting with former players scattered around FBS programs across the nation. Michigan wide receiver Roy Roundtree is a 2008 graduate and a current preseason candidate for the Biletnikoff Award. Colorado linebacker Doug Rippy, a 2008 graduate, is heading into his senior year at Colorado as a Butkus Award candidate. Pittsburgh linebacker Nicholas Grigsby, a 2011 graduate, has been working with the first-team defense as a redshirt freshman. Wide receiver A.J. Jordan, a 2011 graduate, is on the two-deep depth chart at Wisconsin as a redshirt freshman.
Top prospect: ESPN 150 cornerback Cameron Burrows is one of the top 20 players in the nation. The 6-foot, 203-pound Ohio State commit will play cornerback and safety at times to combat University School's spread offense.
New face: Although he rushed for 326 yards and six touchdowns in the state final, running back Isreal Green hasn't received the recruiting traction of Trotwood-Madison's other top players. A strong performance Sunday could change that.
Keep an eye on: Senior offensive lineman Cody Collins, who will be responsible for helping Green find space to run. The 6-foot-2, 285-pound Marshall commit will be going head-to-head with Bain quite often Sunday.
Other prospects: ESPN 150 linebacker Mike McCray II, a Michigan commit, is another big piece of the Trotwood-Madison defense. Two more defensive standouts, three-star defensive tackle Jarrod Clements (6-2, 270) and three-star safety Reon Dawson (6-1, 175), are committed to Illinois. Three-star defensive end Tre Williams-Brown (6-1, 247) is the highest rated of the uncommitted prospects on the roster and is entertaining offers from Arizona, Bowling Green, Toledo and Kent State.
Bet you didn't know: Douglass played 11 seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and New York Giants. The former safety had six career interceptions and one touchdown.
