One of 3 shots down the LF line gets past Carpenter for a double, but that along with the BP blooper is enough for the Reds to take a 1-0 lead, barely keeping from succumbing to the lead-off double bugaboo. Let's see how the Cards handle their lead-off double.

First pitch to Carpenter was a strike on the sinker. That is what double plays are induced on, but the ump won't give it to him and then he is able to elevage one for the SF and the tie game.

Great AB by Frazier to get the lead run in and beat out the DP, setting it up for the big Bruce blast for a good working margin. Need to have somebody throwing in the pen when Leake throws his next pitch.
BP pulling up going around 2nd on the lead-off hit to the RF corner was wise as he has already tempted fate on a tag play today and come up fortunate on the ump's call.
