They shouldn't be held to another standard different than any other poster.

Even so, if they get away with things others don't. so what? It's just a bulletin board.

This site seems to have an inordinate ammount of crying about moderators.

It's pretty unbecoming.

Should have just kept the rules they way they were. Nothing has changed from this site since the beginning. There was thread derailing, and a lot of fighting at the beginning of this site. The only difference is certain posters got their feelz hurt and became less tolerant to the aggressive style of OC.
Bummer. I disagree. But bummer.

If you replace unbecoming with hilarious, you have my feelings on the matter down to a tee. Or maybe, for a compromise, unbecoming to the point of hilarity.

The penalties they have should be harsh do to the job they are in charge of. I have read time and time again people bitching about the rules being enforced. Yet the ones enforcing them are doing the same shit the guys getting the bans are doing. Why are they not getting at the least the same penalties guys that are breaking the rules are getting. In my eyes their penalties should be harsher.

Why? We're supposed to enforce the rules that exist. I agree that we're not supposed to violate them, but it's like a cop speeding.

Precisely. First offense is a warning. GoChiefs got a warning for the post, just like anyone else would have.

That bastard! He should be held to a higher standard and forced to set an example! He shouldn't be allowed to drive above the speed limit!

Since the cop is speeding he wont give me a ticket if I am speeding too, right? I mean just cause hes doing something illegal he cant arrest me for doing it, right? Try to argue that one in court.

He did not get a warning until sleeper and I raised hell about it.

That's kind of my point. If a person doesn't rail against that as some horrifically unjust double standard, I can't see this ... a much more frivolous topic ... crawling between anyone's cheeks.

Eh, perhaps it went unnoticed until you guys brought it up? Like I've told people before, nobody on this forum (except sleeper) sees every post, or even every topic. I recall editing someone's post in the HS Football forum last year because they used the word "damn." No warning or anything. I just removed the word. The guy who posted it made a point to cite where someone else had done the same several months prior without any action. I had to explain that I just hadn't seen or noticed it.

Could it not have been (as I don't know, personally) that nobody noticed it until you guys brought it up?

Interesting. I don't recall ever seeing a warning first than an infraction. Looks like I received an infraction which resulted in a 1 week basement ban, then I received a warning which was then upgraded into an infraction, and received a month long basement ban.

Consistent. I like it.

This is funny to me cause gochiefs read what footwedge said cause he quoted and then proceeded to comment back so gochiefs was not doing his job. You all want this place to change but this stuff goes on. I put this in serious business so it could be talked about with out people QQ cause I am pointing gochiefs ability to mod out. If you dont want shit to change that is fine I will be done with bitching about mods. If you want this place to change then they need to lead by example and not be a bitch when they get called out on it.

It does look like your first tracked rule violation was an infraction, but then you received two warnings in a row before another infraction.

In essence, it looks like you've gotten more warnings than most people get.

Based strictly on the Mod page, I would venture a guess you get more warnings than anyone else on this site. You also break the rules at least 2x as much as anyone on here.

I was speaking to GoChiefs receiving an infraction. Obviously GoChiefs saw Footwedge's post, and he didn't respond like he should have, but if no Mod saw his response until it was mentioned by you or sleeper, how is another Mod supposed to issue him a Warning?

I agree that GoChiefs did something he shouldn't have, and I bet that he does too, in retrospect. He has received the standard Warning, which applies no less to Mods than it does to any user, and likely as soon as another Mod was actually made aware of it. As such, I'm not sure why this circumstance is still being discussed.

If that is happening frequently from Mods, by all means, report it. Every reported post gets viewed ... usually by more than two Mods, so if a Mod does something against the rules, just report the post so that the rest can see it. One of several things will happen: (a) the post will be found to not break the rules of its respective forum, (b) the post will be either edited or unapproved, or (c) the Mod will receive a warning or infraction. It's no different than it is for another user.

I do appreciate that there are those of you who want to make the place better. The best ways to proactively do that are to report posts that break rules, and if you feel really strongly about a particular post, find a Mod and PM him or her to ask about how the discussion went on it. I'm more than willing to talk about why a post ends up either being allowed or disallowed. I'm betting most other Mods are the same way, but if not, PM me.
