Tribe apathy hits an all time high as NOBODY had the stomach to open a series thread.

For those not paying attention, the team managed to drop a 6-4 decision o the A's last nite...with Joe Smith wearing the goat horns being charged with failing to hold the tie....not that it mattered as the anemic offense managed to score 4 runs on an early grand slam by Shelly Duncan....and that was it.

The teams' crash and burn has been mirrored by Jason Kipnis' batting average which has been steadily plummeting since the all star break...and is now down to .256.

Corey Kluber takes on Bartolo Colon today.

well if I was involved or commented on that at all it was probably to unleash my venom toward the Wedge/Shapiro/Shelton administration and their stupidity for giving a way an all-star 2B because of their inflated egos. Jason Kipnis is no Brandon Phillips ...yet. The kid needs to learn to play a full season.

Interesting that Phillips name comes up on this thread as we are facing Bartolo Colon today. It is somewhat ironic that the highpoint of the Mark Shapiro era is considered the trade that sent Colon packing for Grady, Brandon and Cliff Lee. Notable that while Colon is still pitching.... all we have left from that 'great trade' is a couple of AAAA players and a guy(s) with bum arms.

...and the aging Colon handcuffs us. Tribe loses 8-5....scoring 4 runs in the ninth (Lillibridge and Choo with 2-run HR's.)
Kipnis 0-4.
..only the usual 3 hitting...Choo, Druby, and Brantley.

Was looking at the Clippers' stats yesterday, and all those 300 hitters have now tanked. I think it is time for new ownership.

The rebuild task is monstrous.

Coco Crisp with 5 rbi today. Indians down 7-0 after 7. Going to fall behind Kansas City into 4th.

Seattle next, and then 4 straight series with playoff contenders (Yanks, A's again, Rangers, Tigers). 90 losses is starting to look likely.

I was at the game today in Oakland. It wasn't pretty, Matterson sucked ass. Also today broke my 17-0 tribe win streak when I'm in attendance record. Paid $8 for a beer, terrible game all around.

A's park is a POS, but I did have the best seats I've ever had. 3 rows behind home plate, so I got to watch the A's launch HR's very closely.

This year is the year where Chris Perez has turned into the most entertaining player in baseball. For all the wrong reasons, maybe, but still entertaining as fuck!

At the rate this team is going I think we're about a week and a half away from a player drunkenly driving a car around the field.

Or drunken fans storming the field and causing a forfeit? :D

BTW, where ya been all year?

I can't stand how Perez acts. It's so wrong in so many ways, IMO.

Either one, I figured a drunken fan would wait until we get home from the road trip but who knows, maybe a Seattle Tribe fan will surprise us all.

Yeah it's been a busy year with a new job and getting married but have still been following the Tribe closely, down to seeing some doozies in person, like the 14-1 game last week.

Tribe dropped another one last night 5-3 in Seattle.

King Felix is on the bump today, so I would exactly be looking for an offensive explosion. A couple of singles quite frankly would be a strong outing for this line-up.

I wonder if Chris Antonetti stills sees no reason why Manny won't be back next year? He needs to be fired as bad as Acta does for allowing this attrocity to take the field at all this year.

They have flat out quit on Manny. It is time to give Sandy the reigns and see what he can do the last 40 or so games.

Cheetah the chimp couldn't win a game with this line up either. perhaps they have indeed quit on manny, but if i were in that locker room and looked around at the players expected to win me games, I'd probably quit too. the fact they made it this long before imploding is amazing. They are one of the 3 worst teams in baseball (the way they are playing now a case could be made they are THE worst team in baseball), and there is probably less to be excited about looking into the future than at any time i can recall. other than we can dump a lot of salary and dead wood in the off season by getting rid of hafner, grady and ubaldo. But I see no reason for optimism any time soon.

Tribe is in free fall...and no parachute to be had. Usually during a losing streak I cite the old adage that "a team is never as bad as it looks when it is playing poorly...and never as good as it looks when it is playing well. But this team is not very good and it is playing poorly too. 'Playing well' probably means .500 baseball for this team with no offensive power, and anywhere from 4 to 6 dead spots in the batting order on any given day. (guys hitting less than .240).....and average starting pitching to start the season, which has regressed considerably the past 8 weeks. This team could well end up the worst team in baseball. I don't think the all the players have quit or necessarly 'quit on Acta'....but I think some are resigned to their poor performance. Carlos Santana, Casey Kotchman have hovered in the .230's most of the season. Shelly Duncan has slipped from .220's( is it possible to slip from the .220's and still play MLB?) to the Mendoza line. Jack Hannahan and Jason Kipnis have seen seen their BA's drop 50 points since earlier in the season. (Kipnis had a rare multi hit game last nite). Travis Hafner has done his usual disappearing act...the Tribe has played without a DH for the past few years.
This team is a mess.....and I think that comes from the top.

For the first time in a while I do think there is a real chance that some house cleaning may occur in the front office.

In the span of 1 year we have gone from what was supposed to be a window of contention to a full on rebuild (IMO).

The players have alot to do with it, but the front office completely sat on their hands this off-season when they knew there were such glaring holes in that line-up and no ability to score runs.

At some point their has to be some accountability from Shapiro/Antoneti. How long can they live off that ALCS run in 2007? How long will that continue to washout the poor trades, the weak farm system, the poor on field performance?

We all agree we need a new owner, but seeing as that is not happening I am hoping that at least we get a total rebuild of the front office because this organization has fallen apart through a series of poor decisions at the top.

I hope you're right--and think they may actually do this. Dolan HAS to know he is the least popular owner in professional sports, and the dislike and mistrust to/for him in NE Ohio is at an all time high. Sounds as though he has no intention of selling (unfortunately), so cleaning up the front office MIGHT garner him some positive feedback and dim the clamor calling for his selling the clu--at least for the time being.
And i agree, Shpiro and Antonetti's time has passed. Granted their hands are tied becaue they have no money given to them to spend, but their moves/drafts,etc have generally been a colossal failure. Time to call it a failure and start over. We're in full rebuild mode anyways, so bring in someone else to do the building.
