yeah that writer sounds like a whiny little bitch. So you don't like ND anymore because they don't win? Great fan, I bet his favorite Teams include: Miami Heat, NY Yankees, NE Patriots, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Kentucky Basketball. ***Favorite teams subject to change.

Somewhere tiernan, sleeper, and ccrunner are jacking each other off while one of them reads this aloud.

20 years ago called they want their story back. I don't have ND, I hate their fans. They are the worst and it makes it even sweeter than ND never wins any relevant games. They simply don't win, not now and not for the next 3000 years.

This might be the greatest thing Rick Reilly has ever written.

He wanted a reaction with that piece and it sounds like he got one (I have no idea what Golic said). Reilly stopped being an ND fan after the SC game last year??? Sure, okay. Not buying he ever was an ND fan. And if he ever was a fan, see ya'. Go cheer for TCU, Boise State, Oregon or one of the other teams that he listed with more wins since 2000. It sounds like his anger should be directed more at the BCS, NCAA, conferences and NBC. ND enters into business deals that benefit them and if other parties are willing to agree to these contracts, well, I guess his issue is with them.

If a company was going to pay/offer me more than they offer others with more qualifications than I have....I would take it in a heartbeat. Who wouldn't?

Sure, there were some facts but I don't think most ND fans would attempt to dispute them.

Golic essentially said what you said. Does ND deserve an NBC deal, BCS favors, bowl money, etc based on their performance the last 10-15 years? They probably don't. But don't chide them for not turning it down because any school and any fans would accept those deals in a heartbeat and those who claim they wouldn't are liars.

In that case, I'm in complete agreement with him.

Right because ND having access to a lucrative ND deal benefits ND fans. Give me a break. I'd hope if Ohio State was as terrible as ND has been in the last 20 years, they'd just stop playing football and turn down any deals. That'll never happen though because at Ohio State we have a culture of winning both on and off the field. At ND, winning is for the birds and for the transfers.

"Deserve" has little to do with on-field performance and everything to do with demand. If the ND telecasts pull a rating that makes sense to continue the TV deal, the deal will continue whether the Irish go 12-0 or 2-10.

Maybe I missed it but did someone say that it did? All I was saying was I don't see how one can fault/be mad at ND for entering into these deals.

Is anyone mad about these deals? I'm not. It allows me to watch ND lose anytime I want to on NBC. I love the deal.

Reilly seemed somewhat unhappy with their deals.

Not saying Darren Rovell is the final word on anything but agreed with this....

@darrenrovell: Side with Golic over @ReillyRick. Notre Dame earns what the marketplace has decided they are worth.

Notre Dame is American royalty like the Queen is to England. Just deal with it.
