The Mantis is a no go for any man. That ride is painful...

I'm glad CP is refocusing on the roller coaster and this one looks pretty sweet.

I LOVE the Maverick, but the Millennium Force and the view it brings can't be topped.

DYK: When it opened, the Gemini was the highest, fastest and steepest coaster in the world.

I haven't been to CP since they put in the Dragster. I really need to get my mid 30's rear up there again next summer, and relive the trills I loved as a teen and 20 something.

I think I also may be the only person on the planet that is sad that the Disaster Transport is going away. I remember riding that back in the DAY when it came out....I love the indoor coasters, it feels so claustrophobic!

I am bummed, too. I loved Disaster Transport. It was even better when it first opened and there were things going on while you waited in line.

The new coaster looks good to me. I haven't been up in a few summers but I am hoping to get there this year. Dragster, Millennium Force and Raptor are my favorites.

I don't ride Mantis, Gemini, or corkscrew anymore, but Magnum is still a sweet ride, for literally only about a 10 minute wait. The first hill is still high, and a lot of out of your seat moments too. I still like it if I have ridden all of the other coasters and don't want to wait in another 2 hour long ride.

I have no problem with the first hill or the pretzel turn around. I have a major problem with the ending 10 foot hills that jerk you up and down.

When did they take that part away? When I went this summer I felt like there was something different about it. As for mantis I've never been a fan of it and magnum I've hated because it seems like the the ride ops just always push the lap bar down way to far and then throughout the ride it just gets tighter and crushes my legs especially at the end. I've come to enjoy the Iron Dragon though kinda pissed they took out the Wildcat this year that one was always fun.

I believe they removed it in 2007? It was only there for a season or so. It looks like a sweet inversion. Like a really tight corkscrew or barrel roll, if you will.

Ah interesting lol. Yeah I went and looked it up.. I guess they removed it before the ride ever opened. It does look awesome but I bet like they said it probably would have caused some injuries.

And it is still the smoothest. Well, that might go to the Millennium Force now, but the Gemini is an incredibly fluid coaster. As The Notorious B.I.G. might say, like Teddy Pendergrass, it's smooth as a baby's ass. Love the Gemini.

I'm really saddened, though, by the closing of Disaster Transport. I haven't made it to Cedar Point in about five years now, and now I'll never get to ride it again. My favorite part of the ride wasn't even the ride itself; it was the build-up leading to it, walking through the spaced-out queue line with all of the cool gadgets and robotics, while getting a nice respite from the scorching sun and talking with friends.

The atmosphere of the Disaster Transport building and the sound effects and lighting at the ride's loading platform always made it feel like you were getting on something that had a very real chance of killing you. Haha. I will miss the dramatic nature of it the most.

A big bummer.

That entire theme to the Disaster Transport was taken out long ago.

Yeah, I ended up reading that on Wikipedia. Unfortunate, but there is only so much room on the tiny peninsula or whatever it is. Eventually, Cedar Point will have to tear down other classic rides as well. Such is life.

The good news is I get to reap all the benefits I live about an hour and 15 min from Dorney park and a lot of the rides that get taken out go to dorney.

Awesome. I just always thought they were all scrapped and that was that. Never heard of Dorney Park. Where is that located, and what "name rides" are now located there?

This is a great point. Or build a monorail or train system overtop the water or what currently serves as the causeway. This is probably something Cedar Point will have to consider in the next decade. As somebody who visits the park frequently, how much open room would you say the park has left for rides? As in larger coasters, without taking removing any standing rides.

It's in Allentown pa. The demon drop was moved there and I believe another one was too.

I rode the Wild Eagle which was the first "winged coaster" at Dollywood a few weeks ago. It's a great ride and riding beside the track like that is pretty cool.....just be sure to sit on the outside seat, it was a much better ride.

They have the sky rush at Hershey park that is a winged coaster. You have the option of sitting with a platform at your feet or the winged where your feet dangle. It's a pretty cool ride
