I wasn't scared of the Java Mint, but I was going to be walking around smoking, drinking beer and eating Italian food at the festival. I wasn't sure how well the mint flavor would mix with those other flavors.

Well if that is your excuse I totally understand. Just kidding. Being in that situation is totally different than outside of your own palace.

I plan on going to a cigar tasting/event this Thursday after work. It's kind of a bring your own or buy some there. First time I've been to it in years due to the shift I was working. Thinking about having one of my Opus.

Sorry about your Dad Jcrazy.

I'm currently finishing up a RP Fifty. Nice smoke. I'm getting some white pepper and nice spices with this one. To bad it's so expensive to buy a lot of them.

Spot on. I have smoked many sticks better than Cohibas. But they are the first "better cigar that I ever smoked.

Just like giong to McDonalds and getting a Big Mac. You know what you are getting before you get it, Same smoke every time.

Yeah, though a Cohiba is certainly better than a Big Mac in terms of quality, but while they're not my favorite, they're about as consistent as you get with cigars (sans their tendency to burn unevenly on occasion ... just a rolling blemish from time to time).

Other models of consistency:

Perdomo Lot 23
Rocky Patel Edge
Illusione Epernay (highly recommend)
Roxor (not well-known, but if you see it, it's worth a try)
Man O' War Virtue
Gurkha Assassin

A cigar just seems more perfect when it's consistent.

Reps to a great sentiment that I'm sure he would have liked.

Never was a Phillie guy, but nothing but respect for this.

If the light isn't quite right, it can be human error, but it can also be the result of an unevenly dense or loose spot in the roll.

So I am doing it wrong. Lol. Actually it started good and was about a third of the way through when if went all burning funny each time. I have since quit buying them.

Well I finally found a place that has Perdomos. I grabbed about 5 different sticks, not the Grand Cru as that's all I ever had from them. I did have a Patriarch last night. Very enjoyable and consistent flavor the whole way through. I'm looking forward to the rest.

They had the RP Fifty there which I had last week. I thought about buying another one but at close to $20.00 a cigar I passed. Then the Dude showed me a RP Best of the Best combo pack. Two Fiftys, a 15th Anny, Xen, Thunder, Burn Special Reserve, and a RP dual burner lighter. This was just around $50.00 so I jumped on it. Between the 2 Fiftys and the lighter it pretty much made it worth my while so I bought it.

Seeing as Perdomo and Gurkha are my favorite brands, I have to ask: What were the other four?

The Patriarch ... damn ... I haven't had one of those in ages, but I remember liking it quite a bit. Did you get a Lot 23 or the 10th Anniversary Champaigne Reserve? Both are SOLID.

Enjoy the 15th Anniversary. Solid smoke. As said earlier, I've got about 12 of them left in my humidor.

Tonight, I'm drinking malt liquor (friend from a neighbor who doesn't really know my sensibilities about beer). As such, I refuse to ruin a good cigar by mixing it with Steel Reserve 211.

Lot 23 and 10th Anny are solid go-to cigars for me. Not too expensive, but quality.

Champagne Noir is tasty, but you've gotta be feeling pretty healthy to smoke it, or it'll turn you green.

All in all, those are a solid selection.
