Carolina just isn't consistent enough, especially against teams of this caliber. Way too many mental lapses and turnovers.

They show flashes of being able to compete with good teams, and then they just fall apart. 22-1 run by 'Cuse, 28-2 run by UK, 20-6 run today by Texas. That stuff can't happen against good team. You just can't dig out of a hole like that against a team that won't make many mistakes.

All Carolina fans knew this would be a tough growing process at times, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating, especially when you see what this team is actually capable of doing when they play well.

And physical big men really give them problems. Patterson and Cousins, Jackson and Onuaku, Pittman and James. Poor rebounding and way too many second chances.

Strickland making some plays. Drew II and Strick need to be on the floor together for the rest of this game.

24 freakin offensive rebounds for Texas.

That's pitiful.

Drew takes an AWFUL shot when they're down 4 and what happens? James goes down and gets a three point play.

And then Graves makes his presence known with a turnover.

Pittman is literally throwing people around and not getting called for it.

On that last bucket not only did he man handle the Carolina defender, but he also went from outside the block to under the bucket without a dribble. That is a travel.

No defense and no rebounding = no win.

I'm glad this stretch of huge non-conference opponents is over. They should have learned plenty from these games. Time to get a few wins in the next couple weeks and head into ACC play. By the time conference play is over, I hope this team is beginning to realize its full potential. Consistency is the key...40 minutes of solid basketball instead of 25 or 30.

Again not that it matters, but Damian James blatently double dribbled with 12 seconds left.

I sound like kwy, but officiating in college basketball is terrible.

The officiating today was very inconsistent both ways. I think the teams ended up shooting over 50 free throws and I believe both were in the bonus with more than 12 minutes to go in the game. For a while, they would let them be physical. Then they would start calling a bunch of touch fouls. Pretty weird game.

Texas is really good and if their big men play like they did today, they're gonna be tough for anyone to beat, Kansas included. Quite a few really good teams this year with Kansas, Texas, UK, 'Cuse, 'Nova, and others. Should be a fun season to watch.

This loss sucks as a Carolina fan, but I'm probably being a little too critical. Carolina has lost to the #2, #3, and #5 teams in the nation. They're young, but talented. They'll lose a few ACC games and have us frustrated, but hopefully things will come together by March. Coming off a national championship, and losing so many valuable players, we just have to be patient. That's easier said than done though.

UNC is deep inside but incredibly soft.

Henson, Davis (even though he's a beast offensively), the Wears, and especially Zeller are just pansies defensively and rebounding. They get rebounds based on length and that's all.

I agree with you, Mulva. You can tell just by looking at their body frames that physical big men are going to give them problems. The Wears are pretty solid physically, but Davis, Zeller, and Henson don't stand a chance against physical big men like Pittman. Deon Thompson has never been much of a rebounder either, and he was equally bad offensively today.

Vitale spent the entire day talking about Carolina's NBA size, when in actuality, that's not completely true. They have NBA height, but when it comes to sheer muscle and physicality, they're not there yet. It's no coincidence that in the three games they have lost, albeit against great teams, they have been handled physically inside.

I kind of figured we'd lose this game.. And I hardly ever feel UNC will lose haha...

I honestly think Texas is the best team in the country. We'll see though.

I would love to see Pittman in a Cavs uni for the future.
