About to eclipse the 5000 mile mark and was wondering what everyone else has as their go to shoe and model?

I know it is diff for everyone. When people ask me advice the first thing I tell them is to take with a grain fo salt any model others like, and go to a running store to try out as many models as possible and then stick with the ones you like.

But anyways........


Have used quite a few diff models and now go with the Nike LUnarfly. Was using the Avant, but it was disc and Nike said this was the closest replacement. I love the lunar platform.

Those who rock the lunar shoes was wondering if ya have tried other in that line and if ya liked them.

No. I'm a bitch. I have a pair of Vibrams and the Merrill Trail gloves IWP posted. Although I only go on long walks and sprint. I don't run.

Any of those under $60? I only run one a week and need various shoes for my pursuits so I am frugal with that purchase.

I once bought a pair of Puma's for a race, just for the race. I won by 3 seconds, and I never wore them again. And then also I lost a show at the start, but one the race by 6 seconds.

Asics Gel Nimbus. Tried Nike, Adidas, Saucony, Brooks, but nothing beats the Asics.

It really comes down to what is comfortable to you and your running style.
I love Adidas, and bought a pair of the Marathon 10s in January. I love them. They are a narrow shoe, but are light weight, and very comfy. I generally stay away from Nike, as I have not had a good running shoe from them at all.

Mizuno is the GOAT running shoe for me. Wave Elixir now since Wave Maverick was discontinued a few years ago.

ask 20 different people and you'll get 20 different recommendations. I personally have always worn Brooks--recently like a pair of new Balance. try a bunch on and get what feels best.

I hate Nike and would most likely quit running all together than wear their shoes.

Currently I wear the Asics 2160.


Unfortunately they've been replaced by the 2170. I love the 2160's and if I can find someplace which has them on clearance, may consider getting a couple pair at once.

I also like the Saucony progrid guide. The Asics (imo) is slightly more firm, maybe even a little more supportive. The Saucony has more of a "spongy" soft landing.











I hope Phil Knight gets pink eye.

I worked in a shoe store for a couple years during undergrad, and even the Nike reps said they wouldn't recommend any of their shoes but the Vomero or Pegasus for actual distance running. The Lunar series has virtually no support at all.

I was always a fan of the Asics 2100 series when I ran.

Seriously though, go to a good running shoe store like Second Sole or something. Try a bunch of pairs on and wear the most comfortable ones in your price range.

The shoe market for runners is a joke. THese "minimalist" shoe fad drives me nuts. I have runners coming to practice with these lightweight shoes. I tell them that serious runners dont wear that junk. You want to train 50+ miles a week in them you will be injured by week 2. Now the brand loyal runner in me is hard to break sometimes. Asics, Mizuno, brooks are all in the closet right now. You cant go wrong with the Asics 2100 series or Brooks Adrenaline GTS. Both have good support and decent cushioning. I am also running in a pair of Saucony Triumph and Saucony Cohesion. I am rotating them depending on the run and surface.

Prolly out of all of them, the Saucony Cohesion are the best buy for what you get. $50 for a shoe that has really good cushioning. I am a very nuetral runner with a forfoot plant when I run so I dont need a shoe with alot of stability or pronation control. Just cushioning so my feet arent killing me after those 50 miles weeks and two-a-days.
Depends on what distance/where you're running of course.

I run almost exclusively on trails and the Vibrams and Merrells are excellent for those purposes. I wouldn't want to run 55 miles a week on the track or road in them that's for sure though. Of course that's not what they're designed for.

What's the closest big town? Around Columbus, I recommend Front Runner on Lane Ave.

They are a little pricey but the service is second to none. They will make sure you are fitted with the proper shoe and are even willing to let you "test" them out with a jog around the parking lot.


Afterwards, treat your self to some Tommy's pizza.
