Reds need to avoid like the plague a rain delay in the first 6 inning after getting the game started, for the sake of the bullpen.

I wonder if Ludwick can play first so Frazier can spell Rolen at 3rd and put the best line-up on the field:

1B Ludwick, 3B Frazier, LF Heisey, now that they have a back-up OF

There really is no one in this lineup now that I am excited or interested in watching. Seems like forever since bruce hit a big time HR. I think I get more interested when Leake comes to the plate then the rest of this lineup!

Its still early....4 games into Joe's absence, but I was hoping somehow this could turn into a plus for the team. Sometimes when a star misses time you see other guys start to step up in his DL stint alot more, and then when the star comes back it carries over and the team really starts to roll along.

If votto misses 30 games. This team goes 10-20. This lineup blows and the pitching isn't pitching well.

And after the brewers sweep up this weekend. Doubt will creep in bigtime.

Ya know there can be a mindset that backfires for pitchers in times like this. IF they go out there thinking they HAVE to hold the team to 1-2 runs then they start to press a bit, try to be too perfect on their pitches.

Right now this staff HAS to hold teams to 3 runs or less or the chances of winning is pretty much non existent. I dont see this club scoring runs...let along many runs early in games, to give the pitching staff a little breathing room.

Right now I lay this on bruce and phillips to step up and start producing at the plate. IF they do so then i think good things can happen.

Wow, what a day for Phillips. And Stubbs and Valdez with great days at the top of the order. Nice to see them come back strong, now hopefully the bullpen can shut it down.

If they hold on, you can thank me. When it was 6-0, I turned to a co-worker and said the Pirates were three innings away from being in sole possession of first place.

Hopefully the lineup waking up is a start to this team rolling along. If a few guys can wake those bats up while Mr VOtto is gone and then continue it then this team MAY be able to win in the postseason

I don't know. For some reason, Dusty decided to bring Marshall in to get the final out of the eighth inning. Not sure why he did that, but there are two on now.

To face a lefty?? The move was smart. Marshall has just been a little too predictable lately.
