Is Weatherspoon still going to OSU? Thought I saw on the screen tonight a list of players the Bucks have committed but didn't see his name.

So I went to the game tonight and here are my observations for what they're worth:

1. I agree with the statement above...I saw Sullinger at the state finals last year and was not impressed. Not so tonight, he looked like a man amongst boys. He looked alot fitter and alot more like a bball player, not a coach's son.

2. Weatherspoon did not play. The rumor going around was that he hurt his ankle last night at practice. Not sure how true, just heard some parents behind me saying that.

3. Findlay Prep is a legit team. If they don't come out cold in the first half it is an entirely different ballgame. We saw what they could do in the second half.

4. If I'm Satch I'm nervous about tomorrow night. Tired, big letdown, looking past Centenial. I know Centenial is nothing but this was a gasser tonight. I don't think Centenial pulls the upset but I think they will hang with a team they have no business hanging with.

5. All the big names were out tonight,
-Matta, Diebler, Turner, Funderburke, Kellogg, Mayor Coleman,Herbstreit, Buck I Guy, and possibly others I didn't see.

6. Overall, I think Northland is definetely one of the best teams in the country and I think that Sullinger is one of the best players in the country. This was worth every $ of the $10 admission.

Sully is a Beast
Northland won without JD
I would like to see other guards besides Trey Burke make a shot for themselves, may come back and haunt them.

Sullinger needs to get sharper and more decisive. That goes for all areas of his game, but particularly cutting and moving on offense.

He can get by in high school because he has such long arms and big hands, even if he's not in great position they can throw it close and he'll get it.

This will come with college coaching.

That said, he's going to get his points inside and he's going to dominate on the defensive boards and very impressively, he can shoot free throws.

I don't know if I'd put Northland that high, nationally.

They have to play the right kind of game where it's halfcourt. On a given night, they can play with a top team like this but if they played a bunch of them it would produce mixed results. Sullinger, for example, might get in foul trouble in another game.

Findlay does have good balance. Thompson is a stud and I really like Nick Johnson. Good composure and the ability to shoot. As I said, he's like a Duke player. I think OSU should make a push for him.

Jared is the best player in the nation. Top 5 ever in Ohio in HS.

Northland is a top team in the nation as well.

Trey is better than Johnson.

They were playing against some great guard talent though--you can tell all those kids can play, but they rode their leader to a big win. They didn't do a whole lot offensively, but you have to give Northlands guards major credit for their defense effort.

What?

They just beat the #1 team in the nation on national TV without their 2nd best player. They're definitely THAT good.

Johnson isn't the best player on that team but I think he'll end up being an excellent college player on a winning team. Good composure, fundamentals and can provide some offense. You need those guys, too.

Northland deserves a lot credit for this win. That team brought a lot of hype and a 44-game winning streak. But I'd like to see them play another big showcase game and confirm how good they are. They will this year.

Oh, and Northland won WITHOUT Weatherspoon!
you took the words right out of my mouth--I thought he looked and played soft at times last year, but looked more physical and cut last night--he's a frickin' beast, and has ice water in his veins--GO BUCKS!!!

Northland showed where they are out here, which is maybe the best team in the nation. Top 5 for sure. Without JD who is one of the most athletic players in all of HS ball and they still win. Jalen and Devon really stepped up in this one! Depth at Northland is something not discussed enough.
