Cast iron is the only way to go.
Sear each side for 1-2 min, finish off in the oven at 300-350 until desired doneness. Get a meat thermometer.

i wouldn't stick my steak with a thermometer. Just go by time and temperature and touch and you will get it right.

Try putting it in a skillet on the stove or just eating it cold.

Grilling steak is always a great taste but there are other methods to a great steak.
Other methods may require marinating but the results can be wonderful.
Steak Fondue great with additional dips and can be a great dinner
Wok marinated cut strips of steak and additional dipping sauce make for a great dish
Foil cooked Steak is also a great method of preparing a steak and other side dish all at the same time

Carburator Steak is awesome. Wrap meat in foil and place on engine while car runs for 25 min. for Medium Rare. Include small potatoes and onions for extra flave.

Sear it in a pan, finish it off in the oven. Last couple minutes pour some butter/garlic butter/etc. over the top.

Some others have said already.
But sear that bitch for about a minute and a half on the stovetop. Finish it off in the oven at like 350, for as long as you want...broil not bake though, and you will get the heat from the bottom, like a grill as opposed to top and bottom. Just be sure to flip and cook even.
Oh, and disarm your smoke detector or you will have a loud beeping pretty quick.
