My bro lived there for 6 months. He hated every second of it. There isn't much to do, but he did say the downtown area was fairly decent. I visited once and we hit a nice lil tapas place down around the arena.

I don't think that Battle Creek is too far from there. Kellogg's cereal is located there. I'm sure they probably have some kind of museum or something if you're into that sort of thing.

Hopcat is the bar to go for beer enthusiasts and is by far the best bar in downtown Grand Rapids. With forty-eight beers on tap and 150 bottled beers, Hopcat's selection of beer is unrivaled. Consequently, it is not surprising that Founders stands out as one of the top 3 bars in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Founders brews its beers in a brewery on site and recently moved to this facility to keep up with demand. With great beers and a decent sandwich menu, Founders is a popular place to hang out. Located on the fringe of downtown Grand Rapids, it is just far enough outside the core downtown bar district to avoid the annoying college crowds.
