Strange...I said something about them getting the death penalty awhile back and was laughed at.

To what end? Sandusky will die in prison, those in power who knew likely will be going to prison, and Paterno is dead. Who is left to be punished by this that the legal system isn't taking care of?

No doubt but I heard something on the radio where, even with this Sandusky scandal, they raised a ridiculous amount of booster money this past year.

I agree with this. What happened was absolutely disgusting, however, I don't believe it's the NCAA's place to hand out a penalty here since it isn't competition related. Also, I hate penalizing the kids for something that was done by a few people.

If I were a PSU alum that is what I would be saying. Those 5-6 people are responsible not the university. But what is the definition of LOIC, and why have it if you just fire the persons involved.

I have no idea, nor care very much, about the definition of an NCAA term. This is way bigger than an athletic issue, this is real life, and it's being played out in real life venues (i.e. courts of law). I would repeat my question, what guilty parties appear to be escaping justice for what they've done or haven't done? I don't see anyone involved in this that will just be fired.

Not sure the NCAA will get involved in this regarding a death penalty/suspensions/bans/whatever. I wouldnt be opposed if they did, but I dont see it happening since this is not technically sports related. Its more personal lives of sport coaches/

Correct. Then you have to consider the Clery Act and the penalties PSU will face there. There is no escaping that it seems.

This is a lack of institution control that lasted at least 14 years and covering this up was most definitely a competitive advantage. And they've been selling Paterno's integrity to recruits for how many years now?

The guilty parties are the BOT that didn't do "due diligence" or understand that Joe Pa was running the show not the President and AD, and what harm that might be causing. The dorm/frat fight is example of such a case. Why have rules for institutions and corporations if you can just fire someone to get out of trouble?

I dont know what the punishment should be, but I am not sure it should be the death penalty.

I think that should be reserved for severe recruiting violations, paying/bribing recruits and things along those lines.

Think that theyneed to come down hard on PSU, but not the football program.

Exactly. The legal system isn't done with PSU yet, I see no reason for the NCAA to get involved.

Wow. Yea, recruiting violations are so much worse than raping kids in athletic complexes.

Not a matter of worse, its a matter of who the correct parties are. Just as (most) recruiting violations aren't any business of the justice system, to me this is outside the scope of the NCAA. Based on history, it's well beyond their capabilities.
