I don't know how someone goes 0-28. This is worse than the Dunner last year. Damn it.

Valdez is a better option in CF since Dusty hates Heisey. At least Valdez can lay down a bunt.

Here's an idea...

Third base umpire should be replaced immediately. There is no way you should miss that call and not be reprimanded.

Ump robs Meso of the fruits of a perfect throw against a blazing base stealer!

LAY DOWN A ****ING BUNT

That's what I mean. He tries a bunt 5 times out of that 28 and I'd think he gets on at least once or twice. Its ridiculous.

Meso too impatient on the hot box play and other than getting the out and no run the outcome was bad. Should have had runners left on 1st and 2nd, or a double play tagging out at 3rd the runner who started on first. Need to run the trapped runner all the way back to the 3B bag. And they pay on the sac fly!

Sure...Meso could have played that better. But they paid because of the missed call on the Gordon steal. There shouldn't have been a runner to get into a run down on that play.

Why does Dusty NEVER argue and get tossed from a game. That blown call on the steal would have been a great time to go absolutely ape shit and get tossed from the game.

Last season Dunn had the worst season in MLB history.....but his OB% last year is higher than Stubbs is right now.

What's the record for an everyday position player?

Stubbs' 0-28...as terrible as it is...isn't a record yet.

From what I've read, the record is by a pitcher (Bob Buhl) who went 0-87. The record by a position player is Bill Bergen and Eugenio Velez who both went 0-46.

0-46?
I dont think Stubbs will get close to that! SOoner or later he will top one and beat the throw.

What amazes me is, as fast as Stubbs is, it doesn't seem like he was ever coached to take advantage of that speed. Instead of having a short/compact swing, being able to bunt, and making great catches in the outfield, his swing is too long, he's a terrible bunter, and he can basically only make the routine grabs. It baffles me that he was never taught to take advantage of his speed.

I have to agree with you. He does run down some gap shots that I dont think many other CF's get to.

He struck out alot in the minors as well. YOu are what the back of your baseball card says you are, and he is a guy who strikes out a ton. ALways has, and always will. My buddy and I always talked about this when we coached HS kids..it is almost like players think it is uncool to bunt. He is fast......try some bunts.....bring in the 3rd baseman enough that you can shoot groundballs by him. People got a woody when he laid one down in I think the first ST game this year, but he hasnt done it a whole lot since.
WHat he is doing isnt working, that is obvious.

WHo was it that said something like "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again an expecting different results". Einstein maybe?
