Anyone getting one? I'm considering it. Cnet said it is a fire (kindle) killer, but it's not gonna take the ipad's place. Interested in seeing what our techies here say before pouring a big glass of koolaid.

Great. Enjoy your toy. Let me know when it sits in your drawer for the next decade except when your friends are over. That's really all tablets are good for; taking up drawer space.

So, you want me to let you know, in 10 years that it has been sitting in a drawer? Not gonna do that. Also I'm not sure about buying it but I was curious what real people thought. As opposed to a smartass troll persona drummed up by a dude who's really cool when he's not on here.

Edit: christ autocorrect suuuuuuucks.

Embarrassing you think giving your realistic practical advice is trolling. Feel free to blow your money, and then when/if you lose your job you can bitch about not getting enough handouts. It's the American way after all.

Will do. I'll start with the iPad I was promised that never showed. Fucking 1%er's not contributing their share.

Sorry that you are upset. Go ahead and buy the Nexus 7. It's a great device, boy I wish I could get my hands on one of those. My life will change for the better with a 7inch tablet and its only $200.

You forgot to quote where I said it'd make my life better. I'll wait.

Clearly you are unfamiliar with utility. If you don't think it'll make you happier or your life better, then by buying the device you are decreasing your wealth and not reciprocating with utility. There's also the opportunity cost of using that money to buy something that would increase utility, so its a double whammy. Enough said?

If a $200 tablet decreased somebody's wealth enough to bother them, they have bigger issues.

Curious sleeper, what kind of car do you drive? How big is your house/apartment?

If it was $1 and you spent it on something that didn't make you happier, but you lost the $1, that would affect your utility negatively as well. The amount is irrelevant.

I don't have a car, I live in a city. I don't have a big house, I live in a modest place. My bank account is pretty stacked; I'm not worried about money.

I misunderstood the topic. I thought I was supposed to Google search Nexus 7 to see something funny.

Carry on with your debate as I'm one of those uppity IPad owners.

What's the point of a "stacked" bank account if you're not going to spend any of it? Obviously you have to be smart with your money and not spend lavishly everyday of your life, but there is nothing wrong with enjoying your money every once in a while.

Say you die tomorrow.... What happens to the money?

Years ago I got a really cool PDA, super slick. Paid like $500 for it. Went off to school and since I always had my laptop and wireless, never used the stupid thing.

I'm just buying it to be entertained during the days I travel, I'm accruing a li earth of books that I'll never read again and can't watch movies on my work over so I end up sitting on the plane and in the terminal just sitting there bored to death.

Financial security is extremely important to me. If I die tomorrow, my money will go to worthy causes.

That's terrible that you are unable to entertain yourself without a tablet computer.

I'm definitely interested in getting one. The specs looks fine. My only complaint is that it's more of an oversized phone than a tablet. I'm worried that the screen/device might be too small.

I certainly hope you don't buy tickets to any sporting events or concerts. What a waste of money that is! Not beneficial in the least bit.

I tried jelly bean (4.1) on my galaxy nexus last night, and for an unofficial version, I must say I am very impressed. I know some people will go nuts over privacy concerns but Google Now is very impressive. I don't think they tried to copy Siri with this (Samsung S-Voice anyone?) but made something different from the ground up. They really improved the speech-to-text (processed on the device) from early Google speech actions and the predictive items (traffic, weather, sports scores, etc..) will get better over time once your device sees a routine.

Like I said earlier in this thread, if you are in the market for a Android handset or tablet, Nexus devices are the only way to go. At least you know you are going to get updates in a timely manner, unless you are a VZW customer. They always seem to delay software updates.
