Yeah, I mean, I don't use the word, but I also don't get offended by it in music, the same way I'm not taken aback by gratuitous violence in films, or really violent/otherwise offensive lyrics in other forms of music. Is it racist? probably not. I don't think I need to explain why it's not, nor debate whether it's fair, but racist? na. Offensive? well, to you, and some others, I'm sure it is. But to me? also a no. What DOES make me cringe in a lot of hip-hop culture is the disrespect of women, and the homophobia, which, to a degree, are far less prominent than they were in the early 00's. But, it's still something I struggle with as a really, really big supporter of both mainstream and underground hip-hop.

I don't see the N word as what it was intended to be anymore anyways because racism is dead to me as far as I'm concerned. In regular life anyways--there are some who push it, the media hasn't done anything but fuel the flame for the most part. But that's a good analogy with violence in movies--doesn't offend, just is what it is.
