1. Sign Eric Gordon to a long term deal. I know he has injury problems, but bringing him back home would be amazing for the team and city. If you dont go long term, I think NO will match. But long term, with the injury concerns, I think he is theirs.
2. Go hard for Steve Nash. George Hill did a good job as the starting PG, but he is not a PG. Collison is an AWESOME back-up, but I dont like him as the starting PG for a team contending for the 2nd spot in the East.
3. Take a flyer on the hometown boy, Greg Oden. If he works out, awesome. If not, oh well. If you give a competative offer, I think he may take it over similar offers. He loves Indy, the same way Eric Gordon does. They are always back home.
4. Re-sign Roy Hibbert. Not a go to guy, but he is a legit 7-2 (at least), is fairly athletic, and can score on the block. Only a few of them in the NBA. Cant let him go.
Obviously, all those moves probably cant happen. I dont really know the financial situation for the Pacers and Bird, but those moves would be HUGE for a team that is very close.
Good ideas. Giving a big guaranteed deal to Gordon is a little scary though, but I agree 100% you have to do it of you want him
Not sure Indiana takes that gamble though as they already have Granger and George.
If you can deal Granger for a PG and then sign Gordon you have something IMO.
