Not invited to the NBA Draft. Doesnt guarantee anything, but it does mean that the NBA is getting some solid information that he wont be drafted in the lottery. They are usually pretty close on those guys, with a few who were uninvited sneaking in.

He isn't going in the 2nd round and he isn't going lower than 20 IMO, but this is a case where I think he should have come back.
He is a smallish PF with limited athleticism and a spotty jumper. Improving athleticism isn't really something you can improve, but he could have become a better shooter.
Hard to improve when you are on the bench watching NBA games instead of refining your game in college
I think Koufos and Mullens made good calls. I'm not sure either would have ever turned the corner at OSU and of anything might have hurt their stock. After 1 season, NBA people largely ignored their lack of production and projected them because of their pedigrees. After 2-3 years of minimal growth, you wonder where they would have got picked? I never saw anything from either that suggested a breakout was forthcoming. Mullens couldn't find those 6'7 centers to jam on in the Big 10

I'd love to see him go to Boston. Would be a great fit for him with KG and Rondo. I definitely think he's better off going someplace where he won't be counted on to be a star but can be a solid role player his rookie year, and dropping lower in the draft will hopefully help him get into a good situation. The biggest area where I think he's going to be in trouble in the NBA is on defense. Never saw anything at Ohio State that makes me think he can guard any NBA 4 with even a decent offensive game.

Don't talk bad about Sullinger on RCF... Several posters over there have him pegged as a Center who could guard Dwight Howard

He can't refine his game in practice against NBA players coached by NBA coaches? I don't think he will be anything more than average at the next level, but he made the right move in leaving after last season. I don't think his stock would have improved by staying. It's hurting now because of the back issue, who knows what could have happened in another full season.jordo212000;1211496 wrote:He isn't going in the 2nd round and he isn't going lower than 20 IMO, but this is a case where I think he should have come back.

No he made the wrong move staying after his freshman season. Hurt his stock this year and then should have returned this year. Lots of questions after his season this year

So what could he have honestly done by staying another year? Not only would the back issues still be there, but now he's a year older as well..jordo212000;1211628 wrote:No he made the wrong move staying after his freshman season. What did he have left to prove? He is what he is. He probably would have been right around the same type of pick next year... Get it while you can, you know?

Back issues could improve.
Could improve his outside game?
How's he going to score in the NBA right now? Thomas Robinson ate his lunch

The NBA game has much more floor spacing than the college game does. And Thomas Robinson would eat his lunch again next year...jordo212000;1211643 wrote:Back issues could improve.

For fuck sake, Josh Harrelson and the white dude from KU ate his lunch as well. So did Meyers Leonard and Cody Zeller..
And back issues just don't improve. He'll likely have those the rest of his life... Especially with his uneven legs.

No, I'm not lol... Sully would continue to get abused by those guys regardless. Harrelson abused him his FRESHMAN year and he still got abused his SOPHOMORE year.jordo212000;1211650 wrote:You're making my point

Returning next year wouldn't have guaranteed anything.

I'd rather have him guard someone like Dwight Howard instead of a "real center" like Fab Melo guarding Dwight. Chuck Hayes played center at 6'6" 250 lbs with a 6'10" wingspan so I'm pretty sure Sullinger can handle it. People need to stop classifying players' positions by their height and instead use their skills.
Just a couple... But obviously, guarding a guy like Dwight Howard is much easier than Chris Bosh.Sullinger has a much better chance of guarding Dwight Howard vs. having to keep up with and defend Blake Griffin or Chris Bosh.

I actually think the second point makes a wee bit of sense.
I think Blake Griffin and Bosh do better against him than DH. Theyre too quick for him.... DH might not be the best example because hes a freak athlete too. But like Brad Miller or some big slow center. I think Sully could guard that better than he could guard a quick athletic PF
