It's not just about the pesticides though, that's the point you are missing.

Look at a pic of mcnuggets before they become mcnuggets. Lol at anyone who thinks that is just as good for you as a free range chicken.

This would be great if evolution just played out. The people who ate the "fake food" or succumb to the side effects of consuming the wrong stuff would not reproduce or survive. However, it's ass-backwards today. We have an increased number of starving people, and when I say starving, I'm talking about nutrient-deficient people. Many of these people are eating 3 meals a day, but they are increasingly overfed and undernourished. Although it's far more complicated, this leads to the majority of disease and health problems, which we then treat with drugs and medications, which allows this population to outlive their natural ability and the population grows faster than they die off. Of course, as it increases, the health issues become more and more genetic, adaptations get made to the drugs and the negatives and we end up with a larger society of more unhealthy people. At some point, there will be a tipping point and it will spill over. We can only keep up for so long.Early Cuyler;1196934 wrote:Wow, for once I will actually agree with CoA! As someone heavily involved in agriculture, I think we should focus on simply HAVING enough food to feed our ever-growing global population. If that means utilizing new technology and GMO's, then so be it...
Again, this could be a huge thread itself, but the answer is NOT to make food out of chemicals to attempt to solve hunger. There is zero precedent for it to ever work...

This.Commander of Awesome;1196938 wrote:I have no issue if people want to buy/eat organic food, but the belief that it's better/healthier for you is BS.
Besides generally paying more - sometimes much more - for the "organic" food you cannot convince me that the "organic" carrots, for example, are any healthier for us than the "off-the-shelf" carrots.
Why? Because the seller says it is?
Sorry. The trade off of pesticides used to create a greater food supply vs. food labeled "organic" with the implication that it is somehow healthier for us in the long run isn't that significant in my humble opinion.
Frankly the organic craze is probably more marketing fluff and hype than substance.
Pay more for "organic" if it sooths your soul, but I'm quite certain your organic shit smells just as rancid as my store bought shit....except mine might kill a few more bugs.

Organic food is largely BS. It's a way to make you spend more money on the same exact product.

Shop in Amish Country. Organic foods are readily available and the prices are low.
