It most certainly is. I never said exercise isn't important but if you think pounding it out the gym everyday and coming home and eating HFCS or processed food is going to cut it; good luck. It doesn't work that way. There's a lot more to biochemistry than just calories in - calories out.

Ignorance is bliss though guys. Enjoy!

Why are you talking about calories? I'll stand by my sentiment. If you're metabolically ****** up, the worst thing to do is start running mile after mile.

Walking is the most fundamental activity someone can do and it can be done ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.

The diet is what matters. If you continually overload on grains and fake food, you will fail. I'm not talking about fail for 2 months when you lose weight. I'm talking about failure over the long-term. A failure in health, hormones and an unsustainable way of life. Welcome to "dieting" for 99% of the world. Where has it gotten us? More unhealthy and more reliant on drugs than ever.

Incorrect. It's not as simple as "calories in/calories out." That's a myth.

eat at a deficit and you will lost weight. book it. thats why there are a million types of diets out there and they all pretty much work. they all do the same thing.

i am currently doing it. even eating processed food, pop, shitty food and snacks. i've lost 15 lbs this year. hell i am about to have a large dairy queen blizzard for breakfast. not only that, when i eat more or eat less, it reflects on the scale.

I'm not trying to sound smart. I'm not going to sit here and say I'm an expert in food and nutrition, but if you think calories are the only thing that matter, than just just eat Big Macs everyday and talk to me at age 40 when your heart stops. The body is incredible complex and trying to simplify it down to calories in vs calories out is a joke.

Eat at a deficit and your body will slow down its metabolism.

reading is fundamental, we arent talking about having a healthy heart, we are talking about losing weight.

of course if you eat too little and go into starvation mode. eating at a slight deficit and losing healthy amounts like 1 lb or so a week isnt going to change much.

People on here who are dieting - do you take into account the calories your body burns while you're at rest? I think it's pretty incredible to see what your body burns during the day on it's own just by functioning. I think it's called RMR

"Starvation mode" is also a myth unless you haven't eaten for a long time (days).

Why would you want to lose weight without helping out your heart in the process?

Who cares about being healthy as long as your weight looks good on the scale?

No, incorrect. You've definitely bought in to all of the catch phrases..."calories in/calories out", "starvation mode", etc when they are myths.

Unless you are lower than 4-5% bodyfat you won't have to worry about this mythical "starvation mode."

I have never thought about the calories I take in. All I care about is what kind of calories it is. No one is going to tell me that a 100 calorie rice cake is better for me than a 1000 carlorie grass feed steak.</SPAN>

Addiction to tobacco

Some people are just fat. The crucial thing is that you have a healthy heart and a healthy body. If someone comes from a long line of fattys in their family, they are most likely going to be overweight. But if they maintain a proper diet, excerise and cut out a lot of the processed foods and sodium, their heart will be healthy and they will feel healthy. It's pretty simple really.

i've bought in because it works. 2 years ago i was around 200lbs. over the past 2 years, my workout routine hasnt changed. i was eating a lot, gained 15 lbs. about 6 months ago i started getting strict with portions, eating at a slight deficit and changed nothing else. now i am back to 200lbs. the type of food didnt change at all. you can buy into all the fancy diets you want, go for it. i know you are big into fitness/working out. i also recently had a phsyical, the doctor was amazed at the results.
