Bronson vs Justin Verlander

Brandon Phillips was asked about facing Verlander.....he said his parents were in town this series and out to eat last night he thanked them for coming to watch him.....he said they said they were in to watch Verlander, they've seen Brandon play. Lol

Cabrera is still pissed? Did Bronson support Frazier last night or something. He smokes Bronson in the shin then points out like "that's for last night"

I'd bet a small sum Verlander strikes out 15 Reds today.

Frazier able to do what BP and Bruce were unable to do under more favorable circumstances(less than two out)!

Verlander's bunt with two strikes was perilously close to going foul and may have if Frazier sacrificed his chance to get Verlander at first for the K and the runners having to go back to 1st and 2nd. If you choose to let it go and it doesn't go foul you've got the bases loaded and 1 out and the top of the order up. So I think he did the right thing by giving him the sacrifice, and it worked out with a fly to RF to end the inning.

Votto's intentional walk, after the 2 out double by Heisey, is the first one given up by Verlander since 2009 when gave on to the AL MVP that year, Joe Mauer!

BP has a great AB, although he should have been called out on the 2-2 check swing, fouling off 6 pitches in amongst 4 balls after he was behind 0-2!

After that Bruce had a better AB than he did against Verlander the time before, but it still doesn't get the job done other than to get Verlander's pitch count up some more which is not a trivial factor.

Six innings ought to be it for Verlander today with 127 pitches and 9 Ks. Reds had some good ABs against him today! They had 26 two strike foul balls is what Marty said on the radio. Why can't they buckle down like that on other lesser pitches rather than going for broke so much for longballs? The BP 12 pitch AB was the most pitches Verlander has had to make in one AB in 2012.

Some impressive ABs today. Proof these guys have it in them. They need a hitting coach that can keep them on point and focused against every pitcher. Only Votto, Hanigan and Cairo seem to be able to do that.

Ludwick handles the sun ball off Laird's bat very well for the 2nd out in the 7th, and then Worth flies out to CF to get Arroyo thru 7 with 87, compared to Verlander's 127 thru 6. Tigers are swinging at Arroyo's pitching like the Reds usually do against most pitchers.

At least Cozart hits it weakly enough so that he can't ruin a #9 spot lead-off hit or walk again with a double play!

I wonder if they would have still walked Votto even if that first wild pitch was called a swinging strike.

A break that Boesch's drive to CF barely missed going out. Can Marshall take advantage of that good fortune and get a zero? No! Strong throw by Heisey, just a bit short or a bit late!

Fielder's single turned the fact that Boesch's drive didn't go out from good fortune to bad fortune as now there are two on!
