0% for mine.

Which is kinda bullshit in that some insurance companies will cover glasses/contacts and in the long run, Lasik would probably SAVE them money to cover it. Some insurance will cover Lasik though.

I received a 15% discount off the total price because I have Aetna for vision insurance.

I thought the same thing, but I figured I'd save money in the longrun anyway by doing it, so I went ahead. It was ~$3,500 total, and that was about five years ago. Prices continue to drop.

That's about what I paid when I got it 10+ years ago.

I will do this someday...I wear contacts daily and they get pretty dry. I wear glasses at home a lot, but it would be nice to just always be able to see without having something in my eye or on my face.

It's been awhile since I even considered this, but hearing mention of $2-3,000 to get this make me want to look into it again.

I spend like $100 per year on contacts and about $100 a year on glasses (online), so it would take awhile to break even financially, but it would be awesome.

Ya...I don't spend a whole lot on glasses/contacts for a year. My contacts are supposed to be changed out every 2 weeks. But I can get 2 months out of them before they really start to bother me. So I only get one box of contacts per year. I think last time, they were $80. The lenses for my glasses usually run about $150-$175 at LensCrafters.

Financially...it will take a while. But being able to wake up in the morning and see my alarm clock without having to put my glasses on first, and not having to go through the hassle of putting my contacts in every morning and having to take them out each night will be way worth it for me.

It is. Not having to worry about glasses fogging up when you come in from the cold, being able to pop right up out of bed and see clearly, etc. It's a bummer mine wore off.

After 31 years (first got glasses at 7 yrs old) of glasses and contacts I am now free of them! I just completed Toric lense replacement surgery last week. I was not a good candidate for lasik because of nearsightedness and severe astigmatism. Toric is the same procedure as having cataract surgery. They actually replace your lense with one that corrects your vision. I do have to wear those little "cheater" reading glasses when I read, but other than that I am 20/ 20 both eyes. I was going to have to go to bi- focal glasses soon any way so.... Cost wise it was a bit higher for this than Lasik and my insur. paid $0, but it was worth every dime! I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Pajka in Lima OH. for this. ( or Lasik) He and his entire team where OUTSTANDING!

One word of advice.... DO NOT look for the "lowest bidder" for a procedure like these!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that cost?

7 large. Worth every dime. My contacts were becoming harder to get because of how bad my vision was. The manufacturer wasnt even sure if they would make them any more. When i first started wearing contacts they ran about $60 per eye, when i checked to order one last fall it was going to be around $175 per eye. So I started wearing glasses again. (Hated it!) They never made mine in disposable because of all my astigmatism and i would usually need new ones every 9-10 months because of the protien build up. The math made it an easy choice to check into doing some kind of surgery and I'm glad i did!

Got my LASIK this morning. It was absolutely amazing to have noticeably better vision as soon as I sat up from the procedure.

This was definitely the best decision I have ever made.

My eyes have gotten better throughout the day. Right now...12 hours after the surgery finished...I can already tell my eyes are better than even when I was wearing my glasses/contacts. They said by tomorrow morning I should be at about 90%. By next week, they said I should be at 100%.

That is pretty quick for recovery. Did they say if it will last a lifetime or do you have to get it done again later in life?

More than likely I will have to get reading glasses sometime after I turn 40. But they said that should be about the most I'll need.
