I did. I was correcting you. Anyway, before you derail this thread, good for the girl, but technically they both should be DQ'd.

MV's mom is on this site? I'm embarrassed for my actions on here...

My alma mater too, obviously. The entire story has made me proud to be a Tiger.

Times have changed, I used to push people down at the finish line in order to win.

Epic in so many ways. The comments were awesome: "Son of a bitch!"

Should have trained for 3.1 miles instead of 3.

You can't compete in that many events in a track meet

And FTR in football I had a scholarship opportunity to play at Valpraiso University and a full ride (grants, couldn't give scholarships) to Wittenberg University. I thought I'd be Rudy and walk on to U of Toledo. I ended up never trying out.

I didn't compete in all of them. I was a utility man. You could only compete in 4 at a time. They put me where they needed me. The only thing I did regularly was the 4x800 & 4x100 relay. The rest altered over my 4 year career.

It's a very cool story but if she was not the 1600 meter state champ and was in the thick of the fight do you think she would of did what she did?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think calling someone out for not reading the article before commenting is a personal attack. Yeah, yeah, I'm just "protecting" my mods, right?

No. She would have been at the front, not the back.

She won the 1,600 state championship. Then a little while later ran the 3,200 and was in last place. The girl in front of her (2nd to last) collapsed, so the last place girl helped her out. Yes, sportsmanship. But she also had nothing to lose, already being in last place. What if the girl had been in 3rd, and the last-place girl had been in 4th. I'm guessing she would have ran right by her for the higher position on the podium. Heck, I would have. It's all about circumstance. But still, it's admirable. If I'm that close to the finish, I'd finish the race then go back to help, even if I'm in last. NO MATTER the circumstance, though, I think it's a great act of sportsmanship, especially since she made sure the girl crossed the finish line in front of her.
