Yes it does unfortunately. What happens on the road when people see cops? They slow down. Forums work the same; well forums when the moderators are halfway respected and active.

Moderators are the leaders of the forum. Without leadership, things run amok; without moderation, things run amok. That's what has happened here.

I don't disagree with sleeper. But I don't think not being an active poster makes someone a bad moderator. Ideally we'd all contribute as much as possible.

I would suggest that a moderator saying things to just fill an "active" quota instead of simply speaking when he or she has something to say would hurt the forum ... not help it.

The first dozen posts were of People arguing with thierselves that both were the same

Then the predictable happened...straight down the partyline road when most turned right, and a few turned left. :)

If they posted 100 times a day, would that be doing it in moderation?

I agree, but showing your face (posting) every once in awhile lets us know you are still active and contributing. Nothing wrong with moderator turnover, people's lives and interests change. I think it would help change the culture for the better if we had mods that were active and interested in their particular forums in a positive way.

Well, yeah. I didn't mean setting a quota and making you guys post a new thread every day or anything. Like I said, "ideally" but that doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Great point.

I nominate NCF for a mod if they ever add on the JH girls basketball forum

Gotcha, but that opens up a subjective discussion of "how often is often enough?"

I'd be fine with an entire new mod crew. I think Wes and Heretic do fine.

But as Chicago said, we need mods who ARE active and apart of the community.
