I watched the Stanley Cup Finals game tonight. Hockey has to be the toughest sport to be a play by play announcer for. The names, the speed of the game, the line changes.

Thoughts?

I'd say the following in no particular order

Certain Nascar Races
Baseball
Tennis
Soccer


The reason is there's always a whole lot of action. What I listed can be very boring at times. The best soccer example I can think of is from the Simpsons episode where a soccer riot breaks out. Kent Brockman sounds bored, and the riot started out of boredom.

Does the OP mean toughest due to the speed/complexity of the contest, or toughest because of the lack of action?

Field Hockey or Girls Lacrosse. Cause no one knows the damn rules except the 2 guys blowing the whistle.

Reps. I know exactly which match you are referring to as well (and if you aren't... I am referring to the PSU/NEB dual). Completely pathetic. With that being said, I don't think wrestling would be the difficult for me to provide the play by play.

I was watching the USA 7's yesterday. The announcer apologized if he got the names wrong, he said they just grab a jersey prior to the game and don't have assigned numbers. That and the rules are not clear. Rugby looks complicated to announce.

That was pretty entertaining. I just can't stand the ND football guy who was doing the on field stuff.

On the radio, basketball is pretty tough. You have to be able to talk fast and you have to definitely be widely versed in terminology. TV is far easier...
