I knew that would be the response. I think anyone who is open and serves the public should be treated like a public place. Otherwise, make it a private establishment.pnhasbeen;1180167 wrote:Who say's you have a right to enjoy an establishment?

A private establishment? Meaning a members only club? Or how about a public establishment that has certain procedures that keep some of the public away?WebFire;1180175 wrote:I knew that would be the response. You have the right to go to an establishment I own, but that doesn't mean I have to make sure you enjoy your stay. If you don't like it, don't come back. Free market.

I'd be fine with that if we weren't talking about health issues. Passing a law to ensure good waitress service would be retarded.pnhasbeen;1180183 wrote:A private establishment? So the employees have no rights?pnhasbeen;1180165 wrote:that's reasonable. But as long as the smoke isn't near the cooking and there are sections, like most restaurants used to do, I don't think it should matter.

Who says you have to work in a smoking environment? I'm okay with not allowing smoking in restaurants/bars as long as it is decided by the free market.Sonofanump;1180219 wrote:So the employees have no rights?

Well it was decided by vote. That's close enough for me.pnhasbeen;1180225 wrote:Who says you have to work in a smoking environment? I'm okay with not allowing smoking in restaurants/bars as long as it is decided by the free market.

I guess you could sit at home on your ass and collect from the government or die a slow death from cancer poison from second hand smoke. Sounds reasonable enough in today's socialist society.pnhasbeen;1180225 wrote:Who says you have to work in a smoking environment? Let's have the government control every aspect of our lives. That's better. We shouldn't fuck because we could breed murderers.Sonofanump;1180245 wrote:I guess you could sit at home on your ass and collect from the government or die a slow death from cancer poison from second hand smoke. Where did we go from protecting us from cancerous poison to eugenics? I guess I find no logic in that comparison. </SPAN>

I don't need or want protection. If I want to go to a restaurant and eat with smoke in the air, I should be allowed to be that dumb.Sonofanump;1180257 wrote:Where did we go from protecting us from cancerous poison to eugenics? I guess I find no logic in that comparison.

totally agree, that's why I directed it at smokers. I had an aunt die from lung cancer and her sister was so upset that she smoked all the way to the cemetary in the same car with my uncle. My uncle was really pissed off and it almost caused a huge scene at the burial.Fab1b;1179920 wrote:Lung cancer is not just caused by smoking. Cigarette smoking is one thing I just never understood. Are there any smokers here?

Let's continue to treat us as second class citizens. That's real nice of ya supreme court.

there are plenty of bars that just plain dont respect this law especially in smaller towns

This is true that a lot of bars don't enforce this law, so the smokers can go to those bars. Nobody is forcing them to go to the ones that enforce it.

The high court’s 7-0 decision affirmed a ruling by the Franklin County Court of Appeals upholding the Ohio Smoke Free Workplace Act, approved by Ohio voters in 2006.
