Job's not done, yet, but thus far, I'd recommend these guys. By far cheapest quote, they're leaving the wood cut, and they're working quickly and professionally. And they were nice when I met them this morning.

Haha. Yes, I have really enjoyed working with them. They've done a great job and even accommodated a few additional requests I had about trimming other trees while they were here, for an extre fee. Jesse is the main guy my fiance and I have been dealing with.

By the time I get home tonight, the rest of the wood will be cut up, stump removed & ground up. They're leaving the chipped brush, etc. in a pile where the tree was and a guy is bringing in a loader to take it away this evening.

Here was the end result from yesterday:

Stump is almost completely gone! Something happened with a piece of their equipment this morning, so they're finishing up the tiny bit tomorrow morning. I would absolutely recommend these guys in a heartbeat. Fallin Timbers Tree Service. I've been dealing with Jesse, but it's a 3-man crew that worked on mine.

Actually, that green is from a small iron cross that used to be on the cement pad. I'm all for crosses, but this one always looked creepy. I never liked it from the start, but felt guilty removing it. Now that it's gone, I can power wash that part of the house.

Last Wednesday-Thursday, and last night, I removed all the stones that the previous owner put down around the house and tree (instead of mulch). Wow, that is a LOT of work! I am so stinkin' sore. 4+ tons of stone, if not more. All removed with a rake, shovel, and wheelbarrow.

A church friend w/ landscaping business is taking away the stones this morning, and the tree people are finishing up the stump around noon sometime. So by the time I get home from work, stump will be gone (truck coming tonight to pick up leftover chipped brush) and stones and will be gone. Yay!

Tonight I'm edging the grass for a barrier around where the mulch will go. Then spraying my weed killer concoction around the house. Having mulch delivered on Friday. Mulching Saturday.

Not for mine. Future mother-in-law and future sister-in-law have camp sites, so they're taking some. A friend is taking more for his house fire pit. If I have some left, my neighbor might take some.

Looks a lot better. I just went through cutting down a tree in my yard. It was not nearly as big as what you were dealing with and I was able to knock it out myself. But I think you definitely made the right move. If it were me, I'd be very worried about a tree that size being that close to my house...and would be worried about what the roots were doing to the foundation. Roots from a tree that big could really fuck up your foundation.

Also, the response about killing it with fire made me LOL. When my brother got married, he asked me to house sit for him while he went on his honeymoon. I asked if there was anything he needed me to do while he was gone, and he asked me to get rid of a 6' tall pine needle bush in the middle of his backyard. I called his hillbilly neighbor to borrow a chainsaw, and instead we decided it would be better to load some kindling underneath it, pour some gas on it, and light it on fire. I had a drunken bonfire with my friends for two nights getting rid of that thing. It was definitely the better decision.

Yesterday I had 9 friends and family over, and we had a work day and grilled. We laid down all the mulch around the house and did other things. I'm trying to get the deck built in another month and a half or so. I'll post more pictures as I have them.
