Dan Gilbert owns the Cavs, the Monsters, and the Gladiators. Oh, and the Canton Charge.

He's obviously committed to the community and he's done more for the city as an owner than any previous owner I can remember.

He's also put his money where his mouth is. Cleveland appreciates Gilbert and it shows.

Where the hell did I say anything about the team when he bought them.

Translation (Jordo to english): Gilbert just bought the team because they were good, he didn't actually care about them or the city, just saw the extra opportunity to make an extra buck.

Pretty much spot on, except you forgot the "haha" at the beginning of the post.

I'm not even talking about when he bought the team.

Which is why I said WILL HAVE. As in the future.

He spends like there is no salary cap anyway since it's a soft one lol (unless that changed in the new CBA?)

I actually think both sides of this argument have merit (those who think it's pathetic fans aren't showing up and those who justify not showing up), but I will say it's bullsh*t the way ownership has handled this team. You can't expect to win fans over when you trade away the guys they did, but I'm torn about how much effect I think that it should have on attendance.

Ownership has never influenced my decision to go to a game or not.

I don't care who owns the team. I either like the product or I don't. I enjoy the current team and I go when I want to.

Shane Ryan of Grantland.com wrote this today. Thought it was pretty funny.

Indians pitcher Chris Perez called out the home fans for their lack off attendance, saying, "It's just a slap in the face when you're in first place and last in attendance." Indians manager Manny Acta helped calm Perez down, reassuring him that the early numbers are just a fluke, and that soon they'll be last in both categories. "So cheer up," said Acta. "Let's all take a little break from the stress and go watch the river burn."

Yeah, a river burning joke is very original.

No shit. Didn't find any humor in that at all. Couldn't they have at least worked in a "mistake by the lake" reference? (and that was a diss on the author, not you T-Bone14)

After that, they can throw in a "if it's brown flush it down" reference. That's always very original.

But like the article said, look at when Lofton played here by and large. It's easy for him to say.

Perez is still a dumbass, but Lofton (mostly) had sellouts every damn day and Jacobs still owned the team

But like Lofton said, just win and stop disappointing the fans.

There is no denying that the Cleveland fans despise Dolan. The best way to win them back is to actually show you're committed to winning.

Not many people trust this years team and they don't trust in the plan moving forward.

Do the Indians even have any young players that could eventually be stars? Choo is a bit old to become anything more than what he is, which is very good. Maybe Santana? I don't follow the Indians as much as I used to so I'm genuinely curious. Is there ANYONE in the minors that is making people circle a certain future year on their calandar?

I agree with that, but can understand why a guy on the team like Perez would be pissed. You're a guy who's been with a team for a couple years and aren't getting much fan support even though you're winning right now. While a good part of the reality of the situation is that fans are pissed at ownership and don't want to support a franchise that isn't showing the desire to regularly compete; I doubt things like that matter to players on the team unless said player has been with the team for a long time and knows first-hand why fans are pissed. Probably for a guy like Perez who's only been there a couple years, the reaction to the Dolan hate is more like, "Okay...but we're fucking leading the division, so what the fuck?!?!"

Was probably mentioned but this is pretty easy for a guy like Perez to say. With his contract he's pretty much sheltered from the economy where the "Average Every Day Joe" might not be able to afford to take the kids to the ballpark.

Asdrubal is probably considered a star at SS. Hits for good power, average, and has a flashy glove.

Santana has a ton of potential though. His OBP (last I looked) was amazing and his ability to draw walks is uncanny. He needs to bring the average up a bit, though I'm not a stickler for BA's as I think it's a bit overrated in terms of judging a hitter.

Then you have Jason Kipnis who will likely be a star 2B.

I'm not sure why, they have a great program there and tons of up and coming talent. Their football team isn't nearly as good or marketable, infact they didn't even the Div III championship game last season yet tons of students still go in larger numbers than the students/Alumni that go the baseball games.
The marketing is terrible down here. You have a good product? Advertise it. A few blurbs from Johnny Wharf on 100.9 will not get it done.
