It's time for a Duncan/Laporta swap--Shelley needs some time in Cbus :o

Which is unexpected given his Korean background.

I was watching the champions league, but Gomez is apparently dealing today.

Awesome.

And off subject, but I just looked at the standings....what the fuck is up with baltimore...lol. I didn't realize they were good.

I heard earlier that they already have 62 homers on the year, impressive.

Yep, most in the majors.

However, they also lead the majors in strikeouts and are tied for 9th with the Tribe in total team RBI.

I also see the Tribe leads the majors in walks by nearly 30.

Closers are overated. Sabremetrics and all. And Pastano? Get rid of him.

lol, that dude is a bitch. He's got a point about the fan support, but we all know the underlying issue was his thin skin from getting booed twice this season. He used the attendance as a way to take a shot at the fan base.

Idiot.

If Perez always pitched like that I would agree with you. But he doesn't. A guy that hits 30+ hrs and 120+ rbis is more valuable than a closer. Unless there name is mo Rivera

I'd take 30 homers and 120 RBI over Mariano Rivera as well.

It would be tough. If you had very good 7&8th inning guys it would be really hard. Because if you had the lead after 6 innings your going to win 99 percent of the time. But a batter like that opens up a lot for an offense

Also, there was nearly 30K during yesterdays and todays games. Attendance had been very good this series.

Interleague always draws well in Cleveland. Attendance was pretty damn good today

Yeah, this is REALLY dumb. You would think even the players would know that there could be 50K fans jammed into that place every game, and Dolan's offer still wouldn't be in the same universe as a real team.

Don't forget the mediocre 250 batting average. Also, Yankee stadium is a hitters paradise for left handed hitters. Tex is a switch hitter, I get that. But most of his power numbers are from the left side. Granderson hit 10 a year in Detroit...and 40 a year in New York.

I have no interest in reliving that thread. But I don't think it's out of the realm that Cashman would consider trading Tex...or even A-Rod. He has pared his payroll. Why?

Yes, he has other potential closers. But if they lose a pile of games in the late innings, he won't put up with it. And a move would be made.

And....i look at the drop in production from his future HOFers. Look at all the injuries to ARod, Jeter, Jorge and the like. Not to mention all the blown cash on losers like AJ Burnett.

The fact is...New York has repeatedly broke the bank. And what have they won over the past 13 years? I can see an allegiance to Jeter...he ain't going nowhere. But ARod and Tex....not so much. Both of them have clearly demonstrated diminishing returns.

In that stacked lineup, it's hard not to knock in 120...always gets pitched to. Tex might make the Hall someday. But he, like the other old timers, are on the DL a lot.

I would take Mo Riv in his prime over Tex in his prime as well. Mo first ballot HOF. Tex? May never get in at all.

Perez is pissed at the fans for booing him, so he takes a shot at the fans for not showing up. The only flaw with that logic are that the fans who booed him are the ones who actually did show up.

He's a complete tool and can go fuck himself, but he's right that attendance is beyond pathetic. 5,000 less per game average than the next lowest team in baseball. We'll see if they end up closer to the 2011 level (22.7k, 24th in baseball), which I think is acceptable for a "small market team", or 2010 (17.4k, dead last), which sucks no matter who you are.

If the tribe stays in contention, they will draw. If they don't, they won't.

They've won 1 title since 2000. So my post should gave included the last 11 years...not 13. But 1 title in 10 years is pretty pathetic with that ridiculous payroll. And Cashman knows it. That is why the payroll is coming down and he is seeing the value of developing younger players.
