Kind of like your beloved wolverines, eh? :p (sorry, webbie, I couldn't resist)

This is amazing to see...Andrew Sweat turns down football because of health concerns.

He didn't get drafted, but signed a FA contract with Cleveland. He is going to go to law school.

Some guy that just signed with the Bengals, I think, retired last week because of the health concerns. He had already played for a while but after the Seau suicide decided it best to retire early.

Of course you wont, because we didnt show them, and it will never air again. But yeah, lol. Dude was dead on impact, I dont care what anyone tells you.
I'm not sure I want to see this or not yet. We might still have it on our end when I go back on Wednesday. AV(you work with his bro) said we had to make a copy of what we had and give to the police After reading that you guys also did so, not sure why we would have to.

Sad story indeed. Thoughts go out to his family and hopefully this doesn't happen again in these types of games.

A local kid who played for the buckeyes got drafted last year. WEnt to camp, suffered a concussion and pretty much called it quits. He didnt make the roster but then got signed again and decided to try it out, but ended up not pursuing it any farther. I know he had said taht the concussion he sustained in training camp scared the crap out of him. He is a very smart guy who doesnt need football to make a living. Without that concussion there is a really good chance he woulda made the team he was drafted by, or at teh very least stuck around on another team.

Not sure what you guys have on tape from us. Not sure when we stopped recording to tape. You may not have any of the footage of the medical attention being given, but for me, that was what made me gag. I dont suggest watching that if you even have the ability.

Now the hit? It isnt like the type that makes your stomach upset. Knowing what resulted makes it more difficult, but it wasnt quite as bad as others you have seen throughout the years.

Yeah, I can't believe there are guys out there in sweat pants and helmets from 1983. Unbelievably stupid.

Care to share what was so awful about the medical attention?

I'd guess it was the fact that he was sitting there watching paramedics try to save somebody's life.

Pick6 has it. Just watching them do the defibrillator and watch his limbs snap up from the shock and then go limp again. That and I didnt think he was going to make it from the start, so that sucked to watch.

Ah I see. You thought he was going to die as soon as he was hit? What kind of hit was it? Head? Chest?

Our limited replays showed Helmet was hit right under the facemask. The brunt of the hit was right to the sternum, and the crown got under his facemask and his neck went straight back real quick.

I thought it was a concussion at first, but after a few minutes, when he didnt wake up, it really looked bad.

I play in a contact flag league and have been asked several times to play semi-pro. It has too many guys with nothing to lose, acting invincible because they have pads on. I know a lot of the guys on the NWO Knights team, and many of them have no business playing football, let alone in the flag league i do. The worst part really is that you have to buy your own stuff, many guys that play go out and get the cheapest garbage they can buy.

I have a good job where I need my brain to work, I don't plan on taking the shot to play with pads on again. Playing flag is enough for me, hardly anyone goes for the big hit in flag like they do in semi-pro. It's a good concept, throwing the pads back on, but the fact that it's impossible to get 40+ adults with different job schedules and familes to practice regularly should make people think twice. I'd hate to be that guy who delivered the blow, to have to live with that for the rest of his life. A good friend of mine who plays has been taken back by it ever since it happened.

read this on a local site (Toledo Talk)
Found out a little more while at my son's flag football game. The hit was clean. It was a blow to the chest/underarm. Dave had 5 kids. He was revived on the field but died while being transported. An autopsy will be preformed.

Dave never played sports in high school. Do these semi "pro" teams just take any warm bodies to fill the roster? Football isnt a sport you just jump into playing without being taught how to play. So sad for Dave and his family. Really tragic.

For the record, they do take anyone who is willing to try out. I think they mentioned Jay County only had 25 guys in attendance at that game.
